Overall, others give this:

This part fits great, comes with the new belt and everything needed. I wish you could give the 7' belt and rail back for a credit since they just go to waste, but oh well.

Worked just fine for me. Been in my garage for months. Doesnt seem to have an sag. I would say this is a MUST if you have over a 7' door. It also goes on sale around Sept-October every year.

I needed more lift than the standard 7 feet. We bought a new truck which has an antenna that reaches higher than the standard 7' door. Since the old opener was a little tempermental, I bought a new opener and the 8 foot extension kit at the same time. The kit included everything needed to convert the door opener opener into an opener for a higher door. This included a new longer belt, an extra bracket for the motor unit, even a longer cord for the release pull. (Yes, the original one was too short to reach). When purchased together, installing the kit is not any more difficult than installing a new opener without the kit. If you purchase the kit for an opener already installed, the installation effort would be about the same as buying a new opener. So if you are going to do this with an existing door opener, if your old opener is not fairly new, you should SERIOUSLY consider a new opener at the same time. The install process is a lot of work. My only negative comment is that it seems like a lot of money relative to the cost of the opener. But, if you need it, you need it. It would be nice if they offered different length options without forcing you to buy the 7' style, then adding the longer style as a $47 add on.

Easy to assembly and hang. Over 7.5 foot doors require a rail kit.

Make sure you get this extention if you have an 8' high door. The sales personal at the store fail to tell you that. They also put a sticker over the information on the box that tells you that you need it. PS. It's not worth the $50.00, it should be included with the opener since most overhead doors being installed these days are 8'.

Extension kit works OK. The kit comes with the rail extension, of course, but it also comes with a longer belt and tension spring. Still not worth $50 bucks though! And the rail itself seems kind of flimsy compared to my chain drive rail. Regardless, it does allow me to use my new belt-drive opener on my 8ft door.
