If you purchase BACKWALL do not put on workbench top.  Assemble frame and backwall together and then put on top.

SS top will not fit properly with backwall.  

It will require two people to put on workbench top (very difficult if not) and you will be required to connect top by drilling holes.  

I wrote a review when i first purchased the 8 ft workbench and gave it an excellent rating. Since then I purchased a 5 drawer to mount under the bench. THE FRAME HAS TO BE MODIFIED WITH A HACKSAW SO THE DRAWER SUPPORT WILL FIT INTO POSITION. This is a DESIGN FLAW. The three support beams are cut exactly the same with only one notch in the top of each beam. The bottom beam should have a cut in the bottom and top to accept the support . As a stand alone workbench it is a good purchase, but when you add a 5 drawer assemby on either side get a metal saw and cut a v notch in the 8 ft cross support !

Once again you need to provide better instruction if your going to buy the complete set up. Also no cut outs for the under counter unit

I used this bench frame as a base for mounting my own top, which I custom-built (longer, wider, thicker, and much nicer than the standard options - black textured laminate, oak edges, aluminum trim). I also added two drawer storage units (and enclosed the backs with metal panels) underneath at each end of the frame to complete the workbench. I re-located the long lower crossbar nearer to the floor with some modification, for a better fit and look. I am using a Craftsman hydraulic chair with the bench - it is just the right height when sitting at the bench. I do a lot of hobby and other work on this and two other "rough" (and smaller) benches in my garage. This is the best looking of them all.

I purchased the 8' red frame along with the stainless steel work surface and the three and five drawer cabinets. Looks great together. Not sure where some of the negative reviews are coming from - very sturdy products when all assembled. I think some people just don't know how to put things together properly. Read all of the instructions before starting as you have to eliminate some parts when you are putting the frame together if you are adding the cabinets to your workbench. Takes a little bit of time, but definitely well worth it. Nice quality - very heavy - you will definitely need two people to lift up. None of products were damaged and it all came together fairly easily. Take your time to measure and square everything before tightening. Really looks sharp and well built.

The Craftsman 8' workbench provides a great work surface in the garage and is extremely sturdy (surprisingly). I'm very happy with the craftsmanship of the workbench and also love the height. Great Buy.

This product is a good quality product. Has a reason price considering the quality and the uses and versatily of the different accessories that can be added to it.

When I realized that I needed workbenches for my business, I looked around and found these at Sears. I ended up purchasing two complete bench sets. I used the stainless steel tops and added the lighted backwall, 5 drawer unit, and 3 shelf unit on each bench. Overall, I've been happy with the quality of these benches. When I received the components, I had a couple of bent/damaged pieces that had to be returned with no issue. Check the contents when you leave the store, or you too might end up having to make the trip back for a return. Assembly was fairly easy, but the stainless top is heavy, so you might need assistance with that. I've had these benches since 2010 and they have been put to work daily with minimal issues. I have had to replace one fluorescent fixture so far. I wanted to install another power strip in the backwall of each bench, and it was like pulling teeth to purchase these from Sears. First, the retail mall store assured me that I'd have to purchase these from one of their parts locations. When I went to a Sears parts location, they informed me that they had no way of researching the part number for what I was wanting to purchase, and needed to go to the mall store. Yes, it was a nightmare, but I finally found the part number myself and was able to order them on line. When I received them, there was no mounting hardware included with the power strips. If you look at the owner's/assembly manual for the backwall, there is no part number listed for the mounting brackets or the hardware needed to mount the power strips. The brackets and hardware are on the illustration, just no part numbers! I ended up bending some steel and making my own. Another sign of corporate incompetence! They have everything, they just can't find it! Another little thing I have a beef with is way the light fixture lead has to be routed and plugged into the receptacle itself. There should have been a way to run this lead and provide power other than using the power strip. It just takes away from the design of the bench, in my opinion. Why screw up a good design with this small oversight? The design engineer gets an "F" for that design. Overall I've been happy with these, and want to purchase 3 more for my business. Just make sure you catch them when there is a sale to save a few bucks.

The base(bench) was good -only missing one nut - several tries to contact someone at Sears to get it were fruitless - ended up at ***** for the nut.

The top was another story - butcher block was made in Vietnam and did not have the good "USA packaging *(foam, pressboard, etc.) only cardboard box and strapping - it was split lengthwise almost 3/4 thru  and  not along the seams of the individual pieces in the blocks - must have been dropped or bent - it was 110 lbs. or so.

Attempting to assemble the Craftsman corner shelf was a horror - drawings not clear and what they show (choices) is not necessartily possible -finally someone at Sears help line (?) gave me the name of the manufactuerer in MO, USA who was helpful....

.All the USA made stuff - cornet shelf, drawers,bench and backstand - were very well made and packaged as noted above.

One minor problem with the bench is that, after assembling the bench, I looked at the instructions for the drawers and then learned that I had to take off  2 braces (this was on a sheet attached to the parts drawing, not on the instructions, for the drawers - nothing about it on the assembly instructions for the bench.

All in all,  good stuff at a reasonable price but the instructions could use some improvement including a sentence or two on how to "square" something. And the Vietnamese need to learn how to properly package the butcher block top.
