      Man Up!
If you have the talent, tools and tasks that warrant having a real workbench, then you won?t complain when ?the holes don?t line-up? or ?gee, this isn?t 10-gauge steel like it was when grampa was a boy?. Get over yourself. Figure it out. Fix it. That?s what men do. I bought the 8-foot workbench frame, black pegboard back, stainless top, and a pair of underneath units (3-drawer and shelf). If you are going to go all-in like that, set-aside a day, get someone to work with you, read ALL of the instructions before you open the first bag of bolts. It also helps to read all of the reviews (even the whiney ones). Be ready to improvise and know how to use the tools you have. If, on the other hand, you are buying this to keep up with the Jones? or to fill a deep void left by a distant daddy?then save your money and go see a chick flick. This unit is engineered to use the least amount of steel balanced with the highest degree of structural integrity possible. The parts are stamped, pressed and punched in a factory and if things don?t line up, then loosen all the bolts, get-out your carpenter?s square, and start from one corner and make things straight, tightening as you go. If you read all the instructions beforehand, you know not to center the bench top if you bought the pegboard and to leave out the B-rail stiffeners and no, the light bar doesn?t come with light bulbs. Here?s something I learned: If you buy the drawer unit, fasten the slides to the vertical supports BEFORE you fasten the A-support (inside) under the bench. Attach the rails to the drawer sides and once you put the A-support and front cross-brace in, the doors will glide in. For the 3-drawer, fasten the slides to the first, fifth and 14th row of holes on both the A-support and the outside bench support. Oh, and screw the A-support feet all the way up so you have some room to maneuver until you have the unit in place to level for the last time. Follow the same concept on the shelving unit and you will be okay. I shopped the Sears Outlet website to find bargains, returns and opened items and I saved about 40%. Sure, it took a day or two to round-up the components?but it was worth it. Now get up off your fanny and get to work!

I bought the butcher block work surface with this bench and was happy with the work surface, the frame however I would rate average. I had 2 pieces that were bent. I'm not sure how this would have happened during shipping because my box was perfect and these were pieces that were not exposed to the box itself. After getting it assembled it did feel rather flimsly. I have a 6ft work bench as well and it didn't feel quite as flimsly. The directions were pretty simple but I didn't have the add ons like some of the others had, just the work surface. I think its a rip off they do not give you enough screws to completely screw the work surface to the frame. They explain that in the directions that if you want to screw the edges (sides) down to the work surface additional hardware is needed. I almost returned it twice but my wife talked me into keeping because my old home made bench was getting too nasty and I wanted something new to mount my vise to. Would recommend only if on sale.

      Not a bad work platform

Nice frame. I made my own butcher block top out of 2x4's don't tell Sears for $35.00 lol but the best part of this is I can buy the back splash and the two storage units at a later time or one every couple of months . The more you add to it the stronger it gets. You can't beat Sears for that option. As for the little girl types that are not happy with their new toy try going a step up into profession tools. Enjoy the sticker shock this workbench is about a grand with all the options . A pro one goes for way way over that

      Decent bench

Bought the 8' bench with 2 5 drawer modules. Read the other reviews before attempting assembly. For the most part went together very easy. Guys whining about having to use a hacksaw to cut the frame braces obviously did not read the instructions that come with the drawer kit. It clearly states that you need to remove the braces to install the drawer sides; and yes it is a LOT easier to put the drawer slides on first. Only real issue I had was one drawer kit was shy a couple of self tapping screws and there is TONS of packing material to dispose of. Overall a great upgrade to my shop.

      Decent quality

Decided to take the chance and buy one of these craftsman workbench frames , only negative I have for the frame is the same as most other post, after you install the frame braces you have to cut the notches out for the drawer modules to install, and the thin gage steel is a major problem for me.

      Craftsman 8' Workbench Frame

I bought this for my work shop (garage). When it arrived, my wife offered to help put it together, so we assembled it together. It was relatively easy to assemble and with the finished table top I bought, is very sturdy as well as really nice looking. I have bought a second one now to attached my chop saw to. On a scale of 1-10, this set up is superior to what I bought at the lumber yard. It is a 10!

      Easy but pay attention

Easy assemble but if you are attaching the back wall pat attention. Instruction lack details as to what to do/not to do if installing the back wall with the light. Overall is a very good product and fairly easy to understand instructions. Great product and lots of space.
