Needed to drill larger holes and opted to by this "black" spade bit set to do the job. Have to save the price was amazing for the value you get. Strong and drilss faster than the average spades. Love it. Quality at a great price.

I have a Black and Decker set at home already, but I like these much more due to the drills I have. I have put on the quick release holder on all of my drills and I was getting tired of changing out the holder every time I wanted to use a spade bit. This makes it easier for me and saves me much more time. I also like the screw point in the middle of the bit because it helps to pull the bit into the item being cut. The quick change holder is also safer in use. A person no longer has to use their hand or find a chuck key to change a bit and there is no longer the chance of accidently triggering the drill and cutting your hand. This is why I am trying to change all my bits and other tools for my drills over to this type of release. Finally, because this is a Craftsman tool, it has the Sears Warrenty behind it. I have had to replace only 1 tool since I started buying Craftsman. I had no trouble doing that and I appreciate good tools and a company that stands behind their products.

Purchased this set needing the 1 in. bit but found myself using several others as well. The self feeding feature works very well and reduces the amount of force needed to start the drilling. Strongly recommended. Another great Craftsman product

Purchased this set about two years ago. Bought it becuase it was on sale 50% which is only a couple dollars more than the single bit I needed. The set is inside of a great sleeve, which folds up and has a velcro seem. It is very easy to store, and grab when needed. It organizes exactly the bits I need. I have used about 4 of the 8 bits now, and they work great, I use the 3/8 in the most often and it has worn away only parts of the black oxide coating. Otherwise, they drill in smooth and very easy on any wood. They work quick and can go as deep as the shaft allows, which is about three inches (an extension allows for more penetration). However I would not advise going any deeper, becuase then you increase the chances you might not have it leveled all the way down and then trying to fit a striaght object thourgh it tightly won't work out. Quality Craftsmna tools, like always. The self feed actually works, but on any surface beyond wood you should pre-drill.
