The drive wheels of our self propelled lawnmower were no longer working. I disassembled them to determine what the problem was and founf that the plastic teeth in the gearing that engaged the wheels when the lever was pulled were stripped.
I went to my local Sears store and found the wheels I needed on the shelf! Needless to say that I was very pleasently surprised to find them. I purchased two of them. When I went to change them the process was flawless. The old wheels came off and the new wheels were a perfect match. The whole changeout process went smoothly and took no longer than 15 minutes. Our lawnmower now propells itself across the lawn again on its own power.

I've had my power driven Craftsman Mower for 14 years and have now replaced my wheels twice. As some of the other reviewers noted, the metal drive gear wears the plastic wheel cogs down and then quickly stripts them. At $20 each they are a little high priced, but all in all, they have worked well. The mower itself still starts easy and runs well. $40 every 5 or so years is probably a good investment since new mowers are about $400.

i've had this mower three years now. three sets of wheels. the design is defective. drive gears on mower are metal, but wheels and wheel drive teeth are plastic and wear out quickly. especially since the support for the gear drive train is a pair of bushings instead of bearings and there are no bearings inside the wheels, allowing the drive gear teeth and the wheels to wander in their engagement. the whole assembly should be more durable design. i wouldn't buy one of these mowers again.

I have abused my Sears Craftsman mower over the past 10 years, but it refuses to die on me. I've reinforced one section of the body where the motor is mounted because of "bouncing" to clear grass, and I've even rigged the spring tension on the throttle to account for a weakened spring. I've already replaced one front wheel because of my own mishandling, and now I discover the other front wheel is chewed through on the inside cogs, but that's such an easy DIY replacement. Through it all, every season I drag it out, prime it a few times, pull the cord, it ALWAYS STARTS!!! I got one other brand mower recently and after the first winter I had such a time getting it started I went back to my Sears Craftsman that hadn't been used for a whole summer and two winters, and it FIRED RIGHT UP. I don't get it!

This lawn mower was purchased approx 3 years ago. Within in the first few months of use - the tire had to be replaced. By the end of the season anaother tire. The store does not have them in stock. The price is $16.99 plus 8.99 shipping. We do not have a large lot to mow. My husband is 79 years old so I don;t feel he is abusing this product. I am very upset that Sears is n ot standing behind this product. I would never buy another Craftsman mower.
