This IDEA of this flex shaft is great and it has enough length to bend into just about any spot (I used this to remove an old and install a new heavy duty ceiling fan mount in a room that had no other options for via-attic installation or increasing the size of the existing ceiling hole). The next time I used it (for installing window blinds) the small metal ring located in the attachment point started to make it's way out of the shaft and it was not possible to put it back in. After reading other reviews on this product, I cannot say that I would recommend this to a friend and I urge Sears to find a new vendor to produce this tool ? it's a great idea and a needed tool ... just poorly manufactured.

Used it once and it broke (the head fall apart), replaced it with new one fro Sears, used it again once and it broke (the whole head twisted), small part with too many problems, sick and tired of it not even worth the third trip to replace.

i had the craftsman old flex shaft that came in red cardboard and that was a quality piece. This 9" flexshaft is an entire different story. It has quality on par with Freight Harbor, in other words, it is utter rubbish that I would pay about $2 for. Covered in packaging plastic, it looks OK, but in the hand, the supercheap light alloys used and SUPERcheap crimping give hint of the impending breakage. Do yourself the favor of avoiding a headache and bypass this product. Seems more and more, Craftsman moved from its roots of providing quality tools and now sources cheap china junk. Verysad.

Very poor quality. Didn't last long. Flex part jambed and couldn't even get my bit out. Threw the whole thing out. Not worth the time to mess with such poorly made gadget.

I bought the tool and used it twice. The first time to loosen a 1/4 hex screw 1/2 inch long and the chuck came apart. The second use on a 5/16 hex screw 3/4 inch long the whole shaft came apart and bent. Took it to Sears in Chico,CA and they wouldnt give me a new one. Definetly would not buy again or will i buy another crafstman product after this product and the customer service!

I got the flex shaft as part of a quick release drill bit set and the first time I used it, it broke. The quick release collar on the shaft is not held on well and comes apart with just a little downward pressure. I would not recommend buying this with the intent of using it daily on tough jobs. Otherwise it works well for projects and is one of the better flex shafts I have seen.
