It's a shame Sears has fallen to the point of neglecting to even describe their products. The suits stay clean, and the stakeholders/shareholders never even have to worry about the tools their company in producing...They are PAYING someone to write the descriptions for these and that person failed, I am helping out the average DIY'er to SAVE me some money, and that's why I am sharing this with you. Just a shame that Sears has lost their care and interest in the user.
These are decent sockets, got them as a set with a ratchet and they work for someall jobs. NOT for a heavy-duty, extensive use kit though. Nice look, a bit nostalgic, vintage with the ribbon on the base. Nice set to have in a general use box.
I bought these because I've seen these fasteners on my vehicles. I haven't needed them yet but I like to be prepared.
Not bad for $9.99 but it still kills me to see the Craftsman label on something thats not made in the USA. I've been collecting and using tools since I was 4 years old. My dad taught me always buy tools made in the USA. I've used many brands of tools and even if the tool has a lifetime guarantee it doesn't mean anything after it rounds the head of the bolt after the tool bends or stretches and now you have a real problem. When a tool breaks you usually end up busting your knuckles on some unforgiving steel or pavement and when the tool comes from Japan, Taiwan or China this happens more often. A free replacement tool is nice but if you want the job done without breaking anything, buy American!

I recently was changing the oil in my lawnmower and awkwardly had to use an open end wrench to remove and replace the square drain plug. Shortly thereafter, I received some free Shop Your Way Rewards points and immediately purchased a SAE set of the universal sockets. They are a great addition to my many other SAE/metric Craftsman sockets. A metric set of the universals is on my short list.
Recently saved me while working on a customers motor. Square oil plug would not budge. Open end wrenches just spread and rounded the plug while sockets would not fit. The universal did the trick and held up to the elbow grease. Very happy.
I recently bought this set with the metric set, I tested it and it is good stuff, less tools to carry when these sets will work with different fasteners.
I bought this set of universal sockets for work on Aircraft. Some of the bolts on these aircraft are spline drive. And I just couldn't justify the cost of snap- on for a set of spline sockets that I would only use once and a while. So a fellow co-worker let me borrow his set of "craftsman universal sockets" for a job and i decided that the next day I needed to go and pick up my own set. Work great for spline sockets. Wouldn't use them anywhere else tho. comon guys "universal sockets" just shell out the extra money for regular sockets and save these for spline drive.
