I bought this tool set to replace the 103 pc tool set I accidently left in the rain. In my opinion, this is a very good starter tool set or if you need a socket and ratchet set, for 1/4 & 3/8 sockets. Which was why, I bought this tool set. I have my A.S. degree in automotive and work as a teacher's aide in an automotive program at the local Riverside, CA. community college. I buy Craftmans tools because it's easy accessible, durable tools, and has a warranties on the tools to replace or repair the particular tool. You can't go wrong with that!

I recently went through a tornado down here in So. Illinois and I was quite happy that there wasn't any more damage to my place than there was. It was easy enough for me to take care of the things I needed to but had I needed to do anything more mechanical then I might not have had all the hand tools I needed to get it fixed. With that in mind, I waited until the next CC sale and bought this small tool set to augment what I have here at my Illinois rental house. First things first, this set is regularly priced at $80 which equates to $.85 per tool. Since it was on sale at $70 the cost went down to $.74 per tool. Add the CC savings of another $10 and the cost basis goes to about $.64 per tool. I used $6 worth of SYWR points and now we're at $.57 per tool, not bad, not bad at all for a tool kit made entirely in the US of A! Each tool is well built and I love the dual markings since my old eyes aren't what they used to be! I can use all the help I can get and these are marked well enough that I can see the larger sockets without my glasses. The smaller ones take a little longer but I can see most of them as well. If there was any complaint about this set it would be that I would rather have had a couple extra wrenches instead of the 14 hex keys but then the cost basis wouldn't be at $.57 per tool! C'est la vie! I'm a happy camper with my extra tool set for down here and I do already have the other tools I need but at least now I can swap out an alternator or something on the Wrangler if needed!

very decent set for someone who wants to venture into fixing or just messing/tinkering with autos, boats, bikes, bicycles.. practically anything that needs to be tightened or loosened... some pieces do fit in snugged, so be careful when opening the case. it should be laid flat, not standing to open it. did that once, and everything fell out of its places in the case, and oh boy you should have seen the look on my face...

Looking over the choices for tool to put in the back of my car if i brake down need to be able to fix the car this was the best thing i was able to find and keep it lightweight . Man what sucky selection it was ! You can spend $250.00 dollers and get a big box full a things you do not need or you spend $70.00 and get some of things you need . you get a big box full of air and the privlege of putting your tools in to the slots . That need to think about building a box that you can bild your one tool set with what you need and not just taking all the junk thay throw in an call in 94 pc set or 104 pc set . the box is to big with lots of air that has no point but to take up space ! Developers Designers wake up the real world is Calling !

I had another Craftsman's Mechanic set a few years, back with the old blow mold case, which the latches broke and eventually so did the hinge. I didn't have space for anything else so I the sockets in a Plastic Container, which is still at my parents. Now that I moved into my own home, I had a small 30 pc. ratchet set, which worked fine, but now I need more tools... go figure. I saw this on sale and snatched it up. I am more pleased with the case now that I won't lose the sockets and plus the easy to read labels makes it easier when I am working, that I don't have to angle the socket into the light to see if it's the right size. I also liked the extra space to throw a few extra odd sizes or different types of small tools in the case. The only thing I didn't care for was the way the open wrenches just sat in the case, although they don't move around when the case is closed, but can fall out of place when the case is open. Other than that I still go for the quality and guarantee of the Craftsman warranty. I can put the tools to some rigor and they usually come out shining, I don't believe I had to exercise the replacement in a long time.
