Craftsman Advanced Timing Light was a good purchase

I bought the Craftsman advanced timing light after being dissatisfied with the choices at several auto parts stores that offered what I perceived to be inferior products for a higher price. I was also motivated by an article I read about how fairly Sears treats its employees currently stationed overseas, this was the tipping factor for me.

I am happy with my purchase, it is very sturdy in construction, easy to use and I love the big "Craftsman" emblazoned across the body. I have always been a fan of Craftsman tools. They are the best choice for serious hobbyist mechanics like myself.

The people that work at my local Sears couldn't be more friendly or helpful.

Craftsman Advanced Timing Light - Stay Away!!!
As soon as I began using this timing light it just flashed a few times and then stopped working, I also purchased the more expensive Craftsman Professional Digital Timing Light and had the same problem. There is no difference between the two lights when it comes to quality of craftsmanship. I would not recommend buying either $70 or $100 timing lights, they're just not worth your time and hassle. Instead I borrowed my neighbors mid' '70s Matco timing light and that worked great.

works well and serves its purpose

i have only used the light once, and with no need to use the adjustment. with that being said, it is a good, bright timing light that did a great job for me to set my timing with.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

TIMING LIGHT #MODEL 14065

This timing light is JUNK! The bulb stopped working 13 months into ownership and I've only used it THREE TIMES. Do you think Sears would help?? NOPE! BUYER BEWARE! NEVER AGAIN!

Overall
The Craftsman Advance Timing Light isn't worth the money.

The Craftsman model 14065 advance timing light is constructed pretty good, but I wonder how long it will last being it is made in China. I'm not sure of the over all acuracy though. When set at zero to set initial timing using the timing tab on the engine, it reads accurately. I checked this against my inductive timing light. When reading total mechanical advance at a higher rpm, it seems like the reading is way too high. So high that you should be hearing the engine detonating yet it doesn't and the dial is almost maxed out at 60. I'm not sure that I actually believe the dialed in reading. Certainly there is something better than this particular model. Definitely not worth the money.
