I purchased this welder about a year ago and have used it for many projects with great success. If you are a beginner or a professional welder, you will find this a solid workhorse. Having both DC and AC capabilities is very important for the variety of metals and electrodes that we all need to accomplish different tasks. Adjustments are easy and fast. The construction of this welder is durable and heavy duty. I'd purchase this again in an instant. No regrets.

I just ordered this welder a couple weeks ago, was totally disappointed in the face shield, brush, and chipping hammer that was included. Thought Sears was above including things like that with their products. Was also disappointed in unpacking it, the electrode holder was broken, still useable, but inconvienent, also the ground clamp didn't hold up to much use before it got to hot and started melting the cable. As far as the welder, I do like it but what I want to use it for, don't know if it would hold up to some people's uses. But I am happy with it, except, having to replace the electrode holder and ground clamp before I had it for a week.

This is a tough workhorse of a welder. I use it for projects around the house and it is more than able to handle anything I've yet to throw at it. Its simple to adjust the needed amps to fine tune the arc to the material for a solid bead. The available rods come in a wide range of heat and for different metals. If you haven't done welding in a while or have never done any at all. This machine is what you may need. After a few hours a day practice, with different thickness's of steel and/or aluminum. You'll feel right at home with it. The only drawback of it is that a 220 high amp outlet is needed and an electrician may have to do the work for that.
