Excellent trimmer attachment
I bought this hedge trimmer attachment a few weeks ago and it works great. I use it on the 32cc Craftsman straight shaft trimmer. The combo has had plenty of power to buzz right through things in its path. I've been using it to cut in some paths in the woods. It buzzes off any small diameter branch that gets in its path. I have been using it cut small saplings, brush, briers, etc. I mainly bought it for cutting briers. It works very well on briers because you can quickly trim the briers into pieces a few inches long which is great for getting them out of the way. Previously I used the brush cutter attachment for this job which works very well but it leaves long lengths of briers which are harder to dispose of. I also have the pruner attachment which is a great accessory as well.

The reason I would not recommend this attachment is because I went to Sears this morn to purchase it and was told it would not fit my Sears edga trimmer. Reason was because my trimmer was a straight shaft. Sears made this product to fit other brands but not their own.

Great for clearing brush on steep terrain

I've bought several attachments for my Craftsman 25cc 4-stroke straight shaft trimmer over 4 years. They've all worked well so I added the hedge trimmer to my collection. I live on rural acreage in western NC mountains and some areas of my property are too steep to safely mow, even with a push mower. I've been using the string trimmer attachment to keep the vegetation at bay, and worked out fairly well, especially with a Weed Warrior trimmer head. But the hedge trimmer is much more efficient in both dicing the brush to small pieces and it cuts a wider swath than the string trimmer. I cut the steep areas only a few times each year, so a lot of 1/4" to 3/8" tall grass, brush, saplings, etc., pop up. The hedge trimmer slices through these easily. Of course, because the blade opening is 3/8", anything larger than 3/8" diameter might get gnawed but not cut. The articulating head works well and it is easy to adjust in just a few seconds. The straight shaft trimmer with any attachment is moderately heavy, and the hedge trimmer attachment is the heaviest of all I own. It is not ideal for the "strength impaired" but for most people it is very manageable. I'm no Hercules but I do a lot of manual work to keep in shape and handling this attachment is easy for me (fifty-something year old guy). I don't have hedges in the usual sense for home decoration, but I have a long hedgerow that grows on an old cattle fence. This trimmer works fantastically at keeping the jasmine vines trimmed back. I've used this many times over six months and find this to be an excellent purchase for me.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Do Not buy this Hedge Trimmer Attachment.

I bought this attachment and used it on box wood hollies, it made a sound like gears grinding and of course it quit working. I took it back to Sears which gave me another with no problem. With #2, I finished up the hollies and went on to ground cover when about half way thru the exact same thing happen again. This time I took it apart to see what was going on. I now see that the gears are not made from harden steel but made from soft alloy. I took #2 back and got my money back. Just to let you know I have all the other attachments and for years I have not had any issues with them.

Great versatility at a good price.

One month ago, I bought the 4-stroke weed trimmer to avoid mixing fuel and oil, and immediately decided to purchase the edger attachment for my sidewalks. The ability to switch out the head was very appealing. Now, I have picked up the hedge trimmer attachment for my shrubs. I couldn't be happier. I have 3 quality yard tools that take up minimal space beyond the single weed trimmer. Prices were also reasonable for the 2 additional heads. Time will tell but I believe this to be a great purchase for my weekly yard chores.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

time saver

I've been trimming my privets with an electric hedge trimmer for years. I've managed to shorten my electric cord about 5 times & spend 5 hours each time I trim(at least 4 times a season). Using the hedge trimmer with the 3' extension added, I can do it all in 1 1/2 hours. It makes it way easy. Setting up & taking apart the trimmer is about as simple as it can get.
