Great adapter for my trimmer. Easy to exchange and did the job. Did not break during use and stood up to the craftsman name. Can be adjusted to different angles.
I've bought several attachments for my Craftsman 25cc 4-stroke straight shaft trimmer over 4 years. They've all worked well so I added the hedge trimmer to my collection. I live on rural acreage in western NC mountains and some areas of my property are too steep to safely mow, even with a push mower. I've been using the string trimmer attachment to keep the vegetation at bay, and worked out fairly well, especially with a Weed Warrior trimmer head. But the hedge trimmer is much more efficient in both dicing the brush to small pieces and it cuts a wider swath than the string trimmer. I cut the steep areas only a few times each year, so a lot of 1/4" to 3/8" tall grass, brush, saplings, etc., pop up. The hedge trimmer slices through these easily. Of course, because the blade opening is 3/8", anything larger than 3/8" diameter might get gnawed but not cut. The articulating head works well and it is easy to adjust in just a few seconds. The straight shaft trimmer with any attachment is moderately heavy, and the hedge trimmer attachment is the heaviest of all I own. It is not ideal for the "strength impaired" but for most people it is very manageable. I'm no Hercules but I do a lot of manual work to keep in shape and handling this attachment is easy for me (fifty-something year old guy). I don't have hedges in the usual sense for home decoration, but I have a long hedgerow that grows on an old cattle fence. This trimmer works fantastically at keeping the jasmine vines trimmed back. I've used this many times over six months and find this to be an excellent purchase for me.

I bought this attachment and used it on box wood hollies, it made a sound like gears grinding and of course it quit working. I took it back to Sears which gave me another with no problem. With #2, I finished up the hollies and went on to ground cover when about half way thru the exact same thing happen again. This time I took it apart to see what was going on. I now see that the gears are not made from harden steel but made from soft alloy. I took #2 back and got my money back. Just to let you know I have all the other attachments and for years I have not had any issues with them.
One month ago, I bought the 4-stroke weed trimmer to avoid mixing fuel and oil, and immediately decided to purchase the edger attachment for my sidewalks. The ability to switch out the head was very appealing. Now, I have picked up the hedge trimmer attachment for my shrubs. I couldn't be happier. I have 3 quality yard tools that take up minimal space beyond the single weed trimmer. Prices were also reasonable for the 2 additional heads. Time will tell but I believe this to be a great purchase for my weekly yard chores.
I've been trimming my privets with an electric hedge trimmer for years. I've managed to shorten my electric cord about 5 times & spend 5 hours each time I trim(at least 4 times a season). Using the hedge trimmer with the 3' extension added, I can do it all in 1 1/2 hours. It makes it way easy. Setting up & taking apart the trimmer is about as simple as it can get.
