Bought this tow-behind spreader three seasons ago and it hasn't let me down. It's simple to assemble, connect, and load. Operating takes a little getting used to if it's your first spreader but once you get a feel for it, it seems to work great. The one improvement that can be done is the spreader drop door which is connected to the lever mechanism. I did find that I needed to clean it thoughrougly every few uses and keep all of the joints lubricated. Once that's done, you set the spreader level, start riding, pull the lever and spread away. I was also pleasantly surprised by the included clear-top cover which helps when it starts to rain while I'm finishing some outdoor tasks.

There is a linkage that connects the trap door that releases the material to a handle that allows this trap door to be opened or closed from the tractor. The linkage is very poorly and cheaply designed--very sloppy operations. The problem is that under a modest load (40 lbs of pellet fertilizer) you can move the handle from the closed to the open position (or vice versa), but the trap door does not budge. Since you can't see the trap door from the tractor seat, you think you're spreading when you're not or, worse, you think you're not spreading when you are. Under-applying a lawn product is a waste of time and money, but over-applying can ruin a lawn--for several seasons. I consider this to be a critical problem that makes this spreader worse than no spreader at all.

This is well worth the money! I didn't need one this big, but wanted the heavy duty frame and wheels. all the others had skinny tires and just looked (and felt) cheap. this one is very heavy duty and works very well, rolls easy to!
