craftsman tools are one of the best tools.when you make a purchase sears goal are that the customer are completely satisfied with that purchase. If for any reason you are not satisfied simply return your purchase in it original packaging with your receipt.Great policy.
My wife's previous bypass pruners from another store had broken. I found these at Sears and bought them for her to use in her garden.
Initially I was a little disappointed to find that when I got home after buying them that they are no longer made in the US. But with all the quality issues that these pruners have I'm not at all surprised.
The pruners are sharp but don't appears as durable as her previous ones, which coincidentally only lasted one season. The locking mechanism sticks and is nearly impossible to operate with one hand. The handles are hard, oddly shaped and uncomfortable to hold for longer periods of time.
In retrospect, even with the lifetime warranty I would steer clear of these Craftsman Bypass Pruners.
These pruners are sturdy and get the job done. The only drawback is that the lock is too stiff. My grandma cannot slide the lock, so we have to leave the pruners open when we put them away.
For the price this is one of the best buys and a tool that I use every week. Great product for a great price and if they ever get dull Sears will replace them at no cost.
I bought this tool on a whim but have found many uses for it, where a hedge trimmer just does not fit. They are easy to use, and make clean cuts. Many of these end up pinching and ultimately crushing the plant. This set is great in that it cuts clean
I had alot of overgrown bushes that were too delicate to hit with a hedge trimmer. This tool worked great at cleaning it up with clean cuts. The only draw back I found is that it made my hands sore after hours of use. Most products would do this but thats the reason for the 4 stars
I was pleasantly surprised by these pruners. They have a nice, firm but comfortable grip. They are larger (longer) than I expected. They do extend open moderately wide but perhaps not as wide as some. They seem plenty sharp. They are a bit heavy and unlike my cheaper pair of pruners, they would tire the hand if used for long periods of time. Perhaps this means they are built more solidly though? Like many people before mentioned, these pruners are are hard to lock and unlock with one hand. Sticky. But perhaps over time they will loosen up a bit. Otherwise, overall a nice product. And it has the Craftsman name and warranty behind them. The price was fine and probably even better a deal if purchased on sale. (I had to use up points when they were not on sale.) I have seen them half the price I paid...which would make them an excellent bargain.
I don't like that Craftsman tools are now made in China (or at least some of them to include these bypass pruners), but I got a good deal on them on sale. They work as advertised; haven't had any issue. Good bang for the (five) buck(s).
Salesman was very helpful and reminded me that if anything goes bad on these, they will replace them. That's the reason I went to Sears. I picked this product because when the handle opens, I can get my hand on both sides. Others I looked at were too wide.
