I have used this unit for a remodel, nice and smooth action. Overall fit and finish is good - looks like they thought thru several things. I think anyone who says it wouldn't cut a 2x4 tried to get thru the wood way to fast. It's a slower go - but the unit WILL cut a 2x4" as the ad copy says. ( just slow down ) if you need speed - go buy a 110v electric. It will be fitting a shop vac to the vacuum port vs. keeping the small bag that comes with it. I'm pleased as I don't need a larger unit, and the cordless expands my options as to how often I'll take out to cut a small job.

I bought this saw to be a light weight, grab & go saw for trim work and light cross-cutting. Make no mistake, this is not a 15amp, heavy duty compound miter saw - it takes a second to spool up to full speed, and even with the stock blade (I have not tested others yet) it will cut a 2x4 just fine if you aren't heavy-handed and try to rush it. My saw required minor realignment for bevel and miter, but I got it dialed in to dead-on within a few test cuts. One thing to watch for - locking the miter setting (via the back lever) requires only a little pressure; overtightening will cause the deck to slightly rotate out of position by ~0.5 degree or more. This is why I rated 4 stars instead of 5.
I really like the size of this saw, it's light weight and compact, and easy to transport to any job site, does a very good of cutting for a cordless, great for small projects and trim work.
I have a bunch of C3 tools. I was preparing to install about 500 sq. feet of bamboo flooring and wanted a smaller, more easy to maneuver miter saw. I would normally have used my 12" Makita. I put a nice new 60T blade on this little saw and was able to cut wood floor all night on two batteries with this saw. Would highly suggest this saw to anyone wanting a small, reliable saw.
THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT. IT IS LIGHT ENOUGH TO CARRY AROUND AND CAN BE USED ALMOST ANYWHERE DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS CORDLESS. I HAVE A OLDER MITER SAW BUT IT IS NOT A 'COMPOUND' MITER AND IT IS MUCH,MUCH HEAVER AND NOT CORDLESS. THIS IS A GREAT ADDITION TO MY 'CORDLESS' SEARS 19.2 VOLT TOOLS.
Good for saw for what it is, it wont compete with an AC powered miter saw so keep this in mind before buying. I cut 2x4's with it so far and here are the findings: It wont completely cut through a 2x4 stood up on end, you can however bevel the saw and get an angle cut that way. To angle the saw you loosen a lever and angle it by grabbing the main handle as opposed to a front handle so its kind of ackward at first but you get used to it after some use. I used it with NiCad batteries and worked ok but would like to try it with the new XCP's. The saw is compact and portable and would be great for cutting smaller trim. Cant comment on the longevity of the saw, my use of this saw will be occasional and not professional. For trim work you may want to swap the blade with a fine tooth; it somes with a regular course blade. (uses 7-1/4 blades with 5/8 arbor hole)
I just bought this miter saw to add to my growing collection of C3 tools. First, this saw comes with a carbide tipped blade! It does not say that anywhere in the add, but that was a real pleasant surprise!!! Out of the box, the saw needed just the handle and dust bag attached, and it was ready to use. I have the C3 Lithium batteries to use with all my C3 tools, so my review of how it cuts is based on this. I tested the saw on small to large moldings, up to 3 inches wide, and it cut like going thru butter on all of them. I tried it on some 1x2, 1x3 and some other wood I had laying around that was about an inch thick and 3 inches wide. It cut thru all of that with no problem also. Then came the big test, I tried it on a 2x4. I can verify that it can indeed cut a 2x4 with no problem! I could hear the motor slow down just a bit when the blade got about three quarters of the way thru the 2x4, but the blade did not appear to slow down. So that was good! The only bad part about any saw of this size, is that it can NOT cut any 2x4 on a 45 degree angle in one shot. But, you can do it if you just flip the wood over and continue your cut. Doing this, I was even able to cut a 2x6 in half straight on, and on a 45 degree angle! I also used it on some PVC pipe that was laying around, and it cut thru every size I had that was 2 inch diameter or smaller. So if you have any plumbing projects, this saw will work for that too. The limit of material thickness you can cut is 2 inches because of the placement of the motor housing on the handle with the power switch, which will hit any items that are thicker than 2 inches. So you have to keep this in mind. This little saw is light weight, which makes it extremely portable, which is where it really shines. You can take it with you just about anywhere. I just used it today to replace some1x3 trim on the side of my house! I normally would run a cord thru an open window to power my regular miter box, but no more! It was so nice to not have to do that! If you already own any of the C3 line of tools, and you have a bunch of batteries, then this is an excellent addition to your tool collection. It may not be big enough to cut thru everything like a regular miter box, but it will work easily on most of your normal day to day projects, and it is so portable, that I guarantee you will look for things to cut with it just like I did!
This saw is terrible, no power and wont cut very well. Trying to cut a 2x4? No way, it will stop mid cut and you will have to make multiple plunges slowly to get thru. Maybe some thin molding but you will need a high capacity battery for it to get thru the cut. Stay away from this one, I returned mine.
