      why bother
Let me start by saying I love the C3 battery line with its upgrade ability to Lithion batteries. I have more than 12 batteries for my C3 tools, ranging in life from brand new to 4 years old. I have yet to find a battery that lasts more than 15 minutes using this crappy saw. All saws draing the batteries but not like this piece of junk. And dont bother trying to cut anthing more than 1/2 inch in diameter. You will be better off buying the old style long handle pruning sheers. Dave Park

      Works fine for intended use

Needing a cordless chainsaw, I bought this unit as a perfect complement to my other C3 tools, all of which I power with the basic Li-Ion batteries. I am a woodturner, and need to cut tree trunks into usable pieces to mount on my lathe to create bowls and other items. Although this unit IS NOT DESIGNED to cut large tree trunk segments, I was pleasantly surprised by its ability to cut some chunks of ash wood (HARD wood, think baseball bats) over 15 inches wide (with two cuts) with a little patience. For light-duty work (limbs, small trunks) where you don't want to mess with a gas saw or drag an electric cord, you just pop a battery into this saw and it will work just fine. In my experience, a great saw for what it was designed to do at the price-point. I rated 4 stars instead of 5 because of minor issue with the oil reservoir weeping when the saw sat unused. If you want to cut wood like a lumberjack, don't buy a light-duty economy tool - get the right tool for that application, and expect to pay more.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      Great little saw!

For a home owner who needs a small chainsaw for light work, this is the one! I cleaned out a fence row of small trees with up to 6-in in diameter trees with no effort, no gas-oil mix, no fouled spark plugs or overkill with power. Just fill up with chain/bar oil and press a button. Another plus is that it uses a standard 19.2 battery, not some "one-of-a-kind" battery that is going to fail.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      Really Surprised

This chainsaw was really a surprise. it is small and compact but seems to be well built and does great on the small branches and small trees. very effective for what we needed. It is great for only having a battery. Powerful enough and lasted pretty long on a charge. This was a good investment for our home. Would recommend to family to get one. Sears has a winner with this one. Just add bar oil and put battery on and you are ready to go. This has a good length bar and chain and easy to work with and not too heavy. A good product for a woman to use. A real sleeper product. You cannot go wrong with this chainsaw. It is well built and sturdy. Great size and Price.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      Nice cordless solution, poor chainsaw

I'm a big fan of Craftman's C3 cordless tools. In most cases, I don't see a need for more powerful 40V systems, especially with C3's excellent Li-Ion batteries. Even my C3 string trimmer was able to handle a solid 45 minutes of abuse on a single battery. I love the concept as well - a simple, low-maintenance chainsaw for those of us that probably only use a chainsaw once or twice a year on smaller jobs, but don't want to limit our chainsaw use to areas near an electrical outlet. My Li-Ion battery and the motor on this chainsaw worked great. Good torque and decent chain speed for a cordless unit. However, this saw performed very poorly when trying to cut even small 5-inch diameter limbs. Vibration was significant, and the chain would occasionally lift out of the cut and refuse to begin cutting again until additional pressure is added (not good technique for using a chainsaw). The final straw was that I found that the lubrication system was completely non-functioning. After pumping the bulb at least 30 or 40 times, still no oil was flowing to the bar and chain. It appears the oil passage is blocked. In the end, I had to return the chainsaw.
