The C3 19.2v Line Trimmer is a BEAST on any yard large or small

What is there not to LOVE about this Line Trimmer?! I have used all ranges of line trimmers and of them all, this 19.2V is right up there with the corded 12 amp models and the small cc gas trimmers. The only assembly is the safety plate on the bottom which attaches with 3 screws. The line is set. The handle needs to be adjusted and a battery thrown on and you are set! I have a 1/2 acre yard in a new construction, so my grass consists of mainly of large thick weeds and light brush along with the new sprouts of grass. This trimmer is HUNGRY for weeds. The tool is light and doesn't fatigue you quickly. The line is strong, some trimmers have cheap line which snaps off against concrete but this puppy keeps feeding line with NO bumping.

The shaft is adjustable, so even my wife was able to use it with ease and she is 5'6. I am 6'1 and do not find myself bending over to weedeat. The entire lower shaft unit rotates a complete 180 to allow for edging WITHOUT inverting the entire handle and all! The edge option creates a smooth line against the concrete and the yard, and the auto feed keeps you rolling without stopping to "bump" the head for line. I got this on sale for $99, and I will say the BEST $99 I have spent, and I am getting one for a co-workers birthday as a gift. AMAZING! Good job on this one Craftsman!

A truly terrible investment
I bought this trimmer halfway through summer of 2011. Used it once a week for that summer. Battery life was so-so. Could get the whole yard on 2 batteries. Put it in garage for the winter months. Bring it out this summer, get 2 uses out of it and it stops working. No clicking, no humming, just dead. Take in to local hometown Sears as it is still under warranty and they send it off for repair. Item is returned unrepaired. After several phone calls and 3 hours of being on hold, the bottom line was that I could either drive 120 miles to the nearest corporate Sears store and exchange it for a new one or they could give me a $50 gift card. The warranty wasn't worth the paper it was written on. Sears officially lost a customer on this one. Hands down the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I guess I'll use the gift card to buy some wrenches or something else relatively difficult to break, since Craftsman warranty coverage is terrible.

Might be good for very small light work

I really wanted this trimmer to work well. I have a rather small lawn with an area in the back against the back that has some crabgrass against a building. It works just OK on regular grass, not so well on anything a little tougher. It takes two or three passes to trim the area in back (about 50 ft. long). To make matters worse it died on me after the 5th use. I purchased a 27cc gas trimmer today. I want to get the trimming done and not coax a rather weak tool. If you have a lawn with good grass and light weeds this trimmer would work just fine. Anything else I would pass.

Lets you go places without a cord

I love this trimmer. The only draw back is the run time on the battery provide with it. Upgraded to the C3 Lithium-Ion XCP Battery

I would recommend this product to a friend.

underrated

I bought this item thinking I might have to take it back due to the negative comments about the battery. I'm proud to say I had no issues with the battery life. I stay on the average size city corner lot. I edged my grass, trimmed around my trees and house without the battery dying on me! Very pleasantly surprised!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great little trimmer

I just finished using this trimmer for the first time on my yard and it did the trick. Reflecting on some of the previous reviews; My yard is about 1/4 acre, and I wouldn't suggest anyone with a bigger yard to purchase this trimmer. The battery was almost dead by the time I finished my yard and that is without edging the sidewalks and driveway. Luckily I have a second battery so that is not a problem for me. I had no issue with a lack of power from this trimmer to start out with. As the battery starts to die, a lack of power is noticeable. But that goes for any battery powered device. Advancing the trimmer line. I was confused at how it did this just from the description of the trimmer. You just release the trigger and wait for it to stop and it advances the line 1/4" per stop. Now if you let the line get too short before you try to advance the line, the line wont have enough weight from the centrifugal force to advance. And just remember it advances only 1/4" at a time.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Handy trimmer

Works well and doesn't need a cord. Other reviews advised buying a spare battery, which I did, and glad of it. One battery only last about 20 minutes and my 1/2 acre yard needs more time. 2 batteries just about does it. Self-feeding string is great!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Just OK

Battery does not last longer than 30 minutes, good thing I have another c3 product from sears. I downsized from a gas operated trimmer and regret that now. Line feeds well.
