Good trim saw
I bought this little saw a few months back as an addition to my growing C3 set, primarily for panel-cutting of plywood sheets into rough dimensions before taking to my table saw for finish cuts. This saw did a great job with the stock, carbide-tipped blade right out of the box, and appeared to tax the battery very little on 5/8 and 3/4 inch thickness plywood. I have also used it to trim the ends off 2x4 studs with no complaints. It does not have the speed or power of a corded saw, but has the advantages of being smaller and lighter, which are helpful when holding the saw during vertical cutting applications. Buyers should keep the intended use of this saw in mind when purchasing - cutting sheet goods, trim cutting, and rough crosscutting of boards, trim, and studs up to 2 inches thick. Precision miter cuts, finish cross-cutting and rip-cutting of boards should be done with other appropriate equipment (miter saws, table saws, etc.) and sustained, repetitive cutting applications might warrant the use of a corded saw (or a few extra batteries.) I have not used this on sustained projects that allowed me to measure battery life - but I have yet to drain the battery after several small projects (plywood and 2x4 trimming.) As with the C3 saber/jig saw I own, I believe the laser is unnecessary, since its brightness obscures the cut-line on a workpiece, and would recommend Craftsman add an LED light instead, for cut-line illumination. I like this saw, and would buy it again.

Frustrated
I would have given this saw 4 stars, it's a handy, useful tool if slightly underpowered. It's light and easy to use and while it will cut 2 x material it's really best, and at it's best, on smaller stock. However, it has a 3/8" arbor and I'm having a lot of difficulty finding blades. It seems 10 mm is a much more common arbor size for 5 1/2' blades, at least around here and from what I've seen on the internet. Even my local Sears doesn't carry 5 1/2" blades for 3/8" arbor size, nor does this website. That's extremely disappointing Craftsman. The rest of the C3 tools I'm very happy with, and this saw's only serious flaw is I can't find blades for it. But no blades makes a saw pretty useless. I would recommend checking the availability of replacement blades before you make this purchase.

great saw - has some engineering problems

I have 2 of these - they are great. Don't worry about how long it will last. Some genius at Sears has replaced the blades with the 3/8 arbor hole with one with a 5/8 arbor hole. When the blade that comes with it wears out, you can use it for a paper-weight or just try to figure out why some dumb#@$ decided that you would not need more than the blade that comes with it. I have used this on 3/4 plywood (when I could buy blades). It is hard to believe how well it handles (with a blade). You probably won't need over 1 battery. I can only imagine how unstable it would be with the blade 1/4 inch of center. If blades were available, I would give it 5 stars and probably buy another one for backup. I would have recommended to a friend, however with no blades available, it might come thru my front window.

excellent saw

The Craftsman C3 Trim Saw makes life easier. It has a 5 1/2 inch blade that spins at 4,500 RPM. It can make cuts up to 1 9/16 inches thick and has a blade beval range of up to 50 degrees. I use this saw to make accurate cuts in thin materials. The built in laser guide helps me a lot when making long cuts in wood and the lite weight of this tool makes for easy transportation. This was the first Craftsman C3 power tool that I bought and it has never failed me.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great saw

We bought this for my husband to do a big deck project and it worked great. You need to have an additional battery for big projects of course. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because THIS DOES NOT COME WITH A BATTERY! This is something I didn't realize but we already had compatible tools with batteries. So be sure you purchase a battery if you don't have one or two already.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Another Great C3 Tool

This my fourth C3 tool. Every one of them has met, or exceeded my expectations. I anxiously await my next "needed" C3 addition.
