This light is a good addition to have around the house but not something I find would say is an absolute 'must have'. Unlike a number of other reviews, mine is not terrifically bright and does not give off a huge amount of light. Those reviews that describe it as being useful for up close tasks are more accurate. Working under the hood of my truck or laying on the floor when changing the oil; it does a great job. Lighting up a big room in a power outage; not going to happen.
The only real problem with this light is not the initial purchase or product, but the replacement bulbs. Fortunately I haven't had to buy one yet, but I am not looking forward to it when the time comes. $5 for the bulb is resasonable, not being able to buy them at the store and having to pay $7 for shipping is a sore point for me. The original light only cost me $17 and to get one bulb costs $12....not happy. Buy two bulbs and pay shipping and I've doubled my investment. The good news is that the bulb lasts quite a long time so long as you treat this light with some care and not abuse it.
The top hook is ok, but a little awkward when trying to hang it from the hood of my vehicle.
This light seems to run forever on a single charge, even with a NiCad battery, so it is good on that account.
I'd recommend it for fix up jobs in small places, in the garage, or for emergency lighting. It would do pretty good in a tent or an ice fishing hut, but don't expect to light up the entire camp ground either.
I'd rate this one 6 out of 10.

Throws good light, nice to have as stand by in case of emergencies or reading light or when you have to take those trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Very bright and has a good light spread so you can large area without having to be exact. It would be nice if it had more than one lighting settings like high and low. Also would be great if it had some kind of adjustment with say the angle you can tilt the light instead it is all fixed. Also would be nice if it had some kind of battery gauge so you know how much juice you have before battery runs out on you.
This is the second fluorescent light that I have purchased and I might buy another. The power went off the weekend before Christmas when we had relatives in from Oklahoma. I turned my original light on and used it like a lantern, set it on the coffee table, and it lit up the room. I decided right then that I needed another.
I have several of these C3 Fluorescent Lights. They are a very good source of light that can be placed in tight spaces. The battery attaches on the bottom which gives it very good stability.

it is kind of oddly shaped but does a great job dispersing light. if you pay a little extra for a three year warranty the bulb is covered. the standard one year warranty will not. this type of bulb is tougher then expected. this is the best c3 flashlight. the led one kept going off so it was returned. the incandescent one was thrown out.
