Been playing with my new jig saw all day & love it

The Craftsman 19.2v cordless jig saw with laser track is a workhoarse. I strongly suggest using the lithium-ion battery for longer work time between charges. The other thing, I would suggest to extend battery power & shorten work time is to keep blades fresh. Don't force the cut, just let the saw do the work for you. All, you need to do is guide where you want the cut to be. If the blades are dull, then it will make your work harder to do & use more power, this decreasing your battery charge life. To help keep your cuttings off of your cutting line so that you can see where the blade is, I use a shop vac with hose clamped by where you are cutting. Make sure you are using the right blades for the right job ( i would suggest the Craftsman multi-blade accessory pack, it has both metal & wood blades, as well as scroll blades for making tighter cuts without causing binding or kickback on the blade). I have used my saw, cutting 3/4" plywood, & regular hard board & the jigsaw has more than enough power to make the cuts. The parts that I didn't like; very limited space for extra blades ( i think there is only room for one extra blade, besides the one in the tool - less chuck. The next thing, that might have been nice to have with the jig saw, is a pouch to keep it & your accessories in, while you're not using it, to keep dust out of it. Other than those two issues, I have no complaints. This would make a dependable addition to your C3 portable power tool collection (best of all, the batteries are interchangable with your other C3 tools. One charger  & one battery. That's worth a ton in itself...

Annoying "safety" makes the tool more dangerous.

Like all Craftsman tools, this one features the new annoying "safety" which requires you to slide a switch over with one hand while pulling the trigger with the other and I suppose with your 3rd hand you're supposed to hold the wood or whatever you are cutting.  This is stupidity.  The only reason I bought this saw is because I'm locked into Craftsman b/c of the batteries.  This "safety" on all tools is dangerous and should be replaced.

This goes back today.

I purchased this last night and like most people, I was eager to cut. I tested it on a 1x4 pine boards. The saw slowly made it through the board. It's lack of power and speed left the wood frayed and chewed. Yes my battery was fully charged and I was using a brand new craftsman professional wood blade. This saw is weak. I will now be adding to my Milwaukee M18 collection. Everything Milwaukee has is amazing. The only thing C3 I have left is the brad nailer. Go a different route. What happened to Craftsman??? They used to be do reputable....

Don't waste your money

I can see why there are so many complaints about this item. I tried cutting a 2X4 with a NiCad battery and the 2X4 laughed at me so I put in the LI-Ion battery and then it was cutting fine, but it stopped and started 6 times while cutting. This must be a defect in the battery protection circuits, The battery is nearly new and fully charged but I tried another fully charged one and it kept doing the same thing. The base adjustment is cheesy, even the Black & Decker equivalent model is easier to use. I did manage to cut the 2X4 several times and the battery didn't run down, but it was annoying with all the quick stop and go problems. The orbital action did make it try to jump, but that's normal with any jigsaw. It worked fine for a light load in 1/4" plywood, but I hardly ever cut that so it's not much use. I tried to cut off a 1/2" piece of allthread and it laughed at the saw too. I could have cut it faster with a hacksaw. I'm taking this thing back because it's not worth the money

Great For Camp

At a camp one is not doing professional work every day. You are doing many episodic projects and repairs for short periods of time over an entire season. Being able to "Cut The Cord" and take your tools anywhere on the property at any time to do each chore or project is very efficient. The Craftsman C3 series is perfect. My latest addition is the Jig Saw. Works as advertised and very well. The key is having enough power to finish the job when it fits into YOUR schedule. This means having several batteries all charging rapidly and backing you up on the project. But why have a battery for every tool? They go bad if not used enough. So why not have 3 or four batteries, in several chargers that can power many tools? This Jig Saw came without a battery. I paid only for the saw because I already have enough batteries and chargers. Works for me, could work for you.

Awesome

I bought this because I was putting in wood floors. This made the job easier and being cordless made it a lot more convenient. I have enjoyed the C3 line. Just make sure to get Lithium Ion batteries because this jigsaw uses a lot of juice.
