Craftsman  C3 19.2 Volt Line Trimmer

This product seems to work well (once I bought a battery) and was received before the anticipated arrival date. Very pleased.

easy to put together, good if you have more than one or two batteries

THIS TRIMMER DOES MY 5 ACRE PROPERTY WITH JUST TWO BATTERIES AND WHEN I GET DONE I AM NOT WORN OUT NOR COVERED WITH GRASS. I WILL BE ORDERING ANOTHER IN CASE I WEAR THIS ONE OUT AND THEY DISCONTINUE IT FOR SOME REASON.

I bought this trimmer for three reasons.  I can't start my hubsand's gas trimmer, cordless, no more blister's using scissor's.  My husband used it before me and liked it.   He didn't read instructions, so he wasn't able to see how easy this trimmer does edging. He used two batteries.  I used one battery for the edging around sidewalks, curbing, landscaping.  I was told I did a excellant job edging.   Line advances automatically.  Metal fences rip the line, so you have to take the  battery out and push the black button on the reel to advance line.  This take a little time since the line advance's  a inch at a time.  Outstanding trimmer.

I brought this trimmer  in a combo set with a hand held blower.  Trimmer works well for light triming. I would recommend this trimmer to anyone who needs a light weight trimmer.  the blower that came with works well too.  Will work with either type battery but I recommend the lithium battery it came with.

I bought this because I own many Craftsman tools that use the same 19.2 Volt battery and am very pleased with the power and battery life of these tools.  I thought the line trimmer would be a perfect companion for my lawn care needs.  Boy was I mistaken. First, I had to order this online and pay for shipping as it was not available in any store on the west coast nor was it available to ship to a store near me so I had to pay ten dollars for shipping.  Shipping took over a week. Once i received the trimmer I immediately assembled it and popped a fully charged battery into it and tried it out.  WOW...what a dog!!!  This thing wouldn't cut my grass at all.  It looked like a blind monkey went at my yard with a pair of nail clippers.  Weak, weak, weak!!  I returned it the next day in the nearest store (funny they can take a return at the store but they couldn't ship to the store) for a refund...minus the shipping.  Ten dollars lost, but lesson learned.  I had a Black & Decker Grasshog plug-in electric trimmer that worked well for over ten years until it stopped advancing line.  I thought this trimmer would be an upgrade, but it looks like I will be going back to another B&D electric trimmer.

Very Disappointing Performance, Absolutely NO reserve power even with the large Lithium battery. The center handle will not hold adjustment if bumped. The line guard extends too far down and holds the trimmer away from the grass. The 3 angle head adjustments do not make up for the string guard bumping into the ground and preventing smooth operations. DON"T Waste your money on this trimmer. I am very disappointed that Sears-Craftsman even put their name on it.

When used with the high capacity lithium ion battery, this trimmer is well balanced and light weight. It is well-built and looks to be durable.

I found this model online and already had tools that use the C3 19.2 volt batteries. This was also $30 less than any of the battery powered trimmers they had in stock at my local Sears in Burlington, NC. It has been great so far, extremely light, and I really like the fact that the head rotates. It is extremely convenient for trimming and edging. I only wish I had gotten the set with this trimmer and a compatible blower. My Dad keeps giving me grief because I don't usually blow off the riding mower before putting it away.

Since this version is sold without a battery, I'm guessing the negative reviews are from users with Ni-Cad batteries. I own both batteries and can report that not only does the Li-Ion battery last much longer, it also provides a higher line speed from the start. If you are looking at this trimmer, I'd suggest the trimmer/blower combo, that comes with a Li-Ion battery, and multi-charger.
