I wasn't sure if this would do the job for me but it came through with flying colors. The only problem is it leaks oil when you go to store it. I drained the oil, easy.
My husband and I just love this handy sized chain saw. We wanted something that could trim branches in our yard with little effort. This was just perfect for the job we needed it to do. Formerly we were using hand saws to trim larger size branches that our by-pass clippers could not handle. This tool was so easy to use... and recharging battery afterwards was a snap!
I have had other 19.2 volt tools (hedge trimmer and drill) that I have been pleased with, but this chain saw leaves much to be desired. It does not cut well nor fast, and hops around so much when starting a cut that I thought the chain might have been assembled backwards. You need to apply a fair amount of pressure to start and complete cuts. Battery life is adequate, but keep multiple charged batteries around just in case. I sensed the power dropping after about 15 minutes of use. Another problem, chain oiling is not automatic. You need to use the pump button after about every 30 seconds of cutting. And did I mention that the chain oil leaks out? When you are done cutting, either manually empty the oil or set the saw down where you don't care if the oil leaks out. My biggest concern is with safety. There is no kickback shutoff. In the product pictures, it looks like there is one, but it is nothing more than a nice large handle. In my opinion, this product should not be used for anything but small limb (maybe 3-4 inch diameter) removal and minor cleanup work. I have a Craftsman 21 inch manual bow saw that with a little more effort and time does a better job than this chain saw. If you really need a powered chain saw and don't want anything to do with gas engines, test out a good electric chain saw. Paired up with a 100 foot cord (and a small generator if needed) you can cover a lot of ground and get a lot of work done.
I like this. Easy to handle and fairly powerfull for battery operated chain saw, Able to take down small trees Only problem is it leaks chain oil so be careful when storing.
I have several extra batteries so I'm using a higher capacity one than what it came with but it lasts long enough to cut up several 4 inch diameter trees. It's more powerful than I expected it to be too. After seeing it my neighbors want one too.
This little saw is really useful for camping trips and hikes. It fits inside a decent sized backpack, and with a regular battery will cut through about a 14" log on one battery. If you get the li-ion high capacity xcp battery you can make 3 or 4 similar cuts. But it can get pretty hot if you don't give it a break every once in a while. Give it a few minutes between batteries if you have something big to cut.
