Overall, others give this:
This drill is a beast. I love the hammer drill function and how easy it is to switch the modes on it. Also nice that it has a light and comes with a bolt on handle for those times you really need to put weight into it. Only giving 4 stars because it doesnt come with a battery or charger and they're expensive.
i use all in one, if i need hammer i use it, and then if i need a drill i use it all in the same tool, perfect.

The C3 hammer drill is very light and compact. It packs more than enough power for average homeowners. I use the hammer drill with the XCP lithium battery. I have no problem drilling into mortar and bricks.
First, the person with the review claiming a bearing problem after 2 years doesn't realize this is a new model that came out in late 2013, clearly not this drill. Second, I have owned the previous hammer drill model (the same he had) for 4 years and it has been great. I have used that model for countless drills into concrete foundations (5/8" bit, not small), concrete block, metal, and wood. I am not a contractor, but used this drill to renovate a basement, and do 20+ projects between my home and two rental properties. I also do some moonlighting doing simple jobs running cat5 for small businesses. Once I saw I could upgrade to this new model for ~$70, I had to bite. Comparing this to the old one, I can see the following improvements: - The ratcheting chuck! - Instead of gripping the chuck with two hands and turning in opposite directions (which rarely holds a masonry bit under load), or gripping it as tight as you can and pulling the trigger until your hand or gloves burn, you just grip and turn using one hand and it automatically locks direction and ratchets down on the bit until you can't turn anymore. - More power, not night and day, but certainly more - Smaller body, this fits much better in my tool box (pretty much same weight) - Better fit/finish, grips and looks are much nicer - Quieter motor, or at least not as harsh sounding - The top level uses gel instead of liquid so the bubble moves slower. I find it easier to lock on to a level position The one problem so far - They removed the back level (the circular one). I'll take this one over the old model any day, but I am really annoyed with this oversight. This is very poor product management. I would gladly pay $10 more to know I am drilling straight up or down! You cannot find another drill with the same power and functionality for anywhere close to the cost of this one. The old hammer drill model was my introduction to the C3 series and now I am the owner of a handful of the other tools. Just make sure you use these with the basic lithium or xrp batteries - nicad is sure to disappoint.
