Stop fighting yard waste and get the right tool for the job with Craftsman.
Instead of packing up and shipping out the extra materials produced by your land, turn them into beneficial mulch. Break thorny branches, sticks, twigs and leaves into useful garden and yard product that helps your soil retain moisture while creating a life-giving buffer zone between the sun and bare earth. Great to spread around the base of trees, on garden paths and around plants, homemade mulch reduces evaporation by protecting your soil from the blazing summer sun. Reduced evaporation means less time watering and more constant water supply for your plants, making them healthier and more productive all season.
A pair of 10 inch pneumatic tires and durable catch bag makes this wood chipper easy to get where it's needed, while the 10:1 reduction caused by the 12 inch Leafwacker™ blade allows you to move more mulch in fewer loads. A powerful 305cc* Briggs & Stratton® Over Head Valve engine produces enough torque to break-up the largest branches, while the built-in tamper ensures you’ll turn every last bit to mulch.
Built with integrity, this power house wood chipper will help you turn waste into a valuable resource while taking the back-breaking pain out of the job. Add this chipper shredder to your shed or garage today and see how one machine can help turn your patch of land into a paradise.

workhorse of a peace of equipment. I love it and use it all the time. Nothing organic goes into the garbage anymore as i grind it all up and compost and use in my garden and flower beds. Only problem is that the manual says use regular gas. Most regular gas has ethanol in it and if it sits in your gas tank for too long the ethanol seperates, sits on the bottom and will ruin the carberator. Sears should warn you of that...they didn't. Other than that, this thing is great.

This is my 2nd Chipper Shredder (lost the 1st one to garage fire). I have a lot of trees on 1 1/3 acres, so there is plenty of debris and branches to clear. This Chipper has the power to pulverize up to 3 inch dia oak. When feeding large diameter, feed slowly and hang on to branches as they feed - Too long of a thick branch will stop the blades. Note - this is typical for a Chipper of this size. Trees like Brazilian Pepper are soft so go through easily as do hardwood branches under 2.5 inches. Small diameter limbs can be shred without cutting off side branches. The machine itself is well built and starts on the first pull. Engine compression requires a strong pull on the cord. The choke and throttle are well positioned and easy to use. The off switch works by cutting the fuel supply. I would have given the unit five stars but the leaf shoot design could be more vertical and opening size larger. Like my previous Chipper, I expect many years of trouble free use.

I've had this unit for 6 or 7 years. From Spring to Fall I use it at least every other day. We have 6 plus acres and a lot of landscaping around the house. When I first started using it, I used the bag. Because I have plenty of room, I dispensed with the bag and let it blow into a compost pile. I had a clogging problem with certain fibrous plant material and figured out that it doesn't clog if you remove the Shredder Screen. It works great without it. For me it is a great piece of equipment for the price.

For a weekender this unit would be great. We are an organic farm and will need to upgrade quicker than we thought. We felt this could have worked for us, yet it is truly not designed for high volume use.

Very easy to assemble out of box-only about 8 nuts to attach everything. This does a great job with 1" to 2" branches as long as they are somewhat straight. It even pulls most of them in without any effort on my part. Don't recommend doing 3" branches-it would probably do them but takes too much time. Don't have a problem with bag-just tie the extra length of strap to handle opposite the chute and it will stay in place. Very beefy engine-love hearing it growl-have never stalled it as yet. I just cut down tree and used it to clean up all the small stuff. A lot of work but easier than loading in truck and hauling away. Haven't used for leaves as yet but works great for all my shrub trimmings. It takes me about 15min. to fill the bag when chipping-perfect time then to take a break. It is loud but have no problem with that. The only issue I have is that it doesn't have a oil dip stick-made my own out of pencil-works just fine. I'm glad I bought it.

When I purchased the tire was flat... I went back to the store and they gave me another tire and it went flat. I also had trouble with the caps that hold the tire on. They didn't give me any and they don't work well. WANT A LOT OF EXTRA WORK, TRY IT.

Overall a decent chipper, shredder could use some refinement. I do like that the shredder drops down so you rake leaves into instead of lifting everything into a top hopper, but it clogs easily. It's also nice that it has a shallow well at the bottom of the shredder that collects stones so they aren't going through the blades. One draw back that kind of bugs me is that it blows the chipped/shredded debris all over, don't expect to have a nice neat pile of chips. This is of course without the bag installed. It actually blows hard enough to wear a hole in soft/medium dirt. I'm sure with the bag attached this would be avoided. Has good power, but will kill the motor if you put say a 2 inch branch that is 4-5 feet long in the chipper. It just can't keep up for that long, so you may want to feed it slowly or cut it into smaller lengths. Anything smaller it rips right through without pause. I ran it a good 1/2 of the day constantly as I gathered material and limbs and did not need to refill the tank, so seems pretty efficient.
