Guards around pulleys didn't last more than one yard cutting. Foot gas petal is very stiff and hard to reach unless seat is all the way up and then your legs are riding this tractor very uncomfortably. I'm 5'10". Slllllooooowww moving. Nice turn radius. No switch to turn off/on the lights - they stay on. Better deck positioning than previous craftman 46" low-end mowers. Easy to push ....no wheel release mechanism so pushed easily.

I purchased this tractor a year ago. Also got the mulch kit and snow plow for it. Mulch kit did a good job at first, but the blades wore out very quick. Other than that it's started every time no problem. The hood fitment has been a let down since I began plowing with it. It no longer sits where it should, instead leaving a half inch gap. Also noteworthy, I see a lot of complaints about mowing in reverse. To everyone who made a complaint, I recommend reading your manual to learn how to enable it.
Seems good so far and feels solid. it's built by husquvarna so that's nice with a B&S motor. rides good. My only complaint would be that I wish it was easier to drop the deck off for non-mowing stuff. Also, it slips easily, this isn't a problem with the tractor but with the stock tires.
PRO's: 1. Good ignition turnover 2. Ease of turning CON's: 1. No "hours" indicator 2. When trying to vacuum leaves with bagger, the machine only gets about 25% of the leaves. It seems to push the leaves to the front and side via heavy wind from blade rotation, but the leaves don't go. It takes me about three times on the lawn to get all the leaves, but even there, several leaves are still on the ground so I have to use my leaf blower to move them. My old Cub Cadet did a much better job of this. 3. If you want to go in reverse after you've used the PTO lever, you need to stop, disengage the PTO and then place machine in reverse. Once finished reverse, you then place in drive and engage the PTO. 3. Manual is not well written. 4. Website and manual have different information about the model number so it's hard to find the right manual. 5. Cowl/hood of engine doesn't always sit right and tight. Takes some playing with it to finally get it to the right position. 6. Instructions for deck wheels are poorly written and confusing. I've only had this machine about a month, so these are the preliminary findings. I'll see what happens in the upcoming months. Bottom line - wasn't what I expected and it seems more "tinny" than what I expected of a Craftsman.
After repairing and nurturing my used, 24 year old, 32" (not Craftsman) riding mower, I finally had enough after my latest breakdown. I made the rounds to all my local riding mower retailers and after a few trips and a little online rating/reviews came to to conclusion the Craftsman was the best rated and buy, especially with end of season discounts. I opted for the @ home delivery and pick-up of my (barely running) old mower. Glad I did, Saved me a lot of hassle plus they performed the basic set-up and installation of the optional bagger. I finally got to use my new mower last week and all I can say is Wow! Speed, turning radius and time saved cutting my lawn was well worth the investment. Went from 2 hours cutting time to one with much less area to cut with my push mower due to the increased turning radius. Gas consumption is about half what it was before.Old mower also had a bagger attachment which came in handy during the fall and a must-have for my new mower. I kept 2 of the 3 grass catcher plastic bins from the old mower to use when cleaning out mulch beds and limbs/twigs from yard. Oddly enough, they are an exact fit on my new mower. My only issue is the new, mesh grass catching bags have no hand loop on the bottom of the bag, making them awkward to dump. With that in mind, I'll probably use my old ridged plastic bins. Much more rugged and easier to dump. All in all, love my new mower.

Thought I would be OK with not having a foot pedal for reverse but it turned out to be a pain. Also the seat would tip forward when going down slopes or leaning forward to reach pedal. Went from a 21hp to 19 and that was very noticeable going up slopes. Returning for more hp and larger motor .
Bought the mower on 08/29 and have used it a couple times for all three lawns. Works excellent, cuts evenly and runs quiet. Had to jump start the motor first time as it was a floor model. Has started up each time since then with no problems.
When I was growing up in the 1960's, Anything with the Craftsman name on it was considered to be the very top of the product line. Well, their quality control sort of missed the mark on my mower. I backed it off my trailer and started mowing our small yard to learn how to use it before I tackled our new 2 acre yard. Well, 15 minutes into the job, the tractor stopped and would not move forward or backward. I thought that maybe it was a case of operator error. But nope. A call to the Sears repair number in the owners manual was answered with a repairman appearing in our driveway a few days later. he discovered that the transmission belt pulley had come off the transmission shaft because there were parts missing that held the pulley on the shaft. he also discovered that the bar codes showing the model number and serial number for the tractor had black lines drawn through them so they could not be read. that was a week ago. I have since received a box full on parts and now await the return of the repairman so maybe I can get the tractor out of the middle of my front yard. One would think that for $1300 I would have been able to use the mower for more than 15 minutes. $1300 is a lot to spend for a yard ornament. I would have taken it back to the store but I would have had to use a come-along to get it back on the trailer and didn't want to mess anything else up. it may be store bound after it can move under its own power again.
