The shovel is good and sturdy. I got it on sale at $14.99. Didn't really need it but can't pass up at that price. The only complain is that I like my spade shovels to be a bit sharper. With the hard clay soil here in Colorado I had to sharped the bottom so it would be easier to edge.
This shovel appears well-built, and of quality materials. I like it most because it is light and still appears strong. Another reason I bought it is because of the Craftsman tool guarantee. While I purchased it for gardening this year, Mother Nature is not yet cooperating with my plan, so I have not been able to actually use this shovel. :( If it performs as I expect when the weather allows, I will rate it as excellent.
It is well built and I really like the warranty ( warrantied for life as a Craftsman product) There is almost no warranty equal to this out on the market. The shovel is constructed of real american steel and does not flex when you put it under load.

I'm an Executive Gardener, Contractor, and Landscape Architect and I love Craftsman Tools in my kit. I bought this to replace the previous Craftsman border spade I purchased which cracked at the point where the handle ends in the spade due to over leveraging during an emergency repair. Looks like the new design is made to address this very issue, but I'm concerned that the increased bevel will leave deep scars in the sod when replacing sprinklers and such. I'll adjust my technique I guess?
My landscaper was using one of these and left it for a few days. I tried finding one at the local hardware stores, but they didn't have anything this nice. It works great for edging and is the perfect size for general gardening use, like planting flowers, small bushes, etc.
