I picked this up to diagnose a battery drain problem on my car. Many of the inexpensive clamp meters do not measure DC amps. This one does. Just put the clamp around the battery cable and it measures the current draw. I can see exactly how much power is drawn as the various components come on and off. Have not tried the other features but the temperature sensor seems useful.

Works well for what it is. One disappointment I had (and it was just my mistake): this meter has a 'Hold' feature but not a 'Max hold' that I would have liked.

Ammeter works well. Use the meter primarily for DC readings. Good value for the price compared to other more expensive units.

Works great on AC or DC lines. Great for arc welder leads, and generators.

Owned it for 2 years. Used it about 12 times. Started displaying random numbers and did not go into AC mode all the time. Extech, who makes this thing, said send $60 to repair their junk. I paid around 60 for a new one. Nice try! Once again Sears is disappointing. This worked fine when it worked...not any more.

Picked yesterday and checked all functions. Everything was accurate except for the temperature function. Temperature reads about 20 degrees F high. I'll check it in an ice bath to verify

This is the only meter that is in its price range I could find to measure both AC and DC current. I really like the protection covers for the probes. It uses 2 AAA batteries, not included. I really like how it comes with a handy carry case and that fits all of it inside, just tie up your wires and it will fit. Now the downside of this model is the size of the screws, they can get lost if you drop them because they are really tiny. You need a special screw driver to get the back open and put the batteries in. I take batteries out after each use and put them in the refrigerator. You don't want to leave them in your meter. So make sure you open the back over a bowl or something in case the screws fall. Another downside is you have to set the reading to zero each time you use the meter because it will fluctuate on +/- 0.02 or 0.03 due to its range in accuracy. Another thing is if you are buying this as your first meter and unsure how it works, know you will not be able to measure current of an AC appliance because in all AC appliances are two or three wires. You would need to strip the wire in order to measure each one. Just a little thing to keep in mind. Someone was unahppy about the temperature reading, well the manual is online and you can see that is has a really poor accuracy. If you really want a way to measure temperature, you would need to get a thermometer or temperature probe as a separate meter. This device is mainly used for measuring amps, and it can measure other things, though I guess not as well.

I needed to replace my Craftsman 81079 DMM because the LCD cracked..easily even with the protected cover. I replaced it with the Craftsman 82369. For such a small package it does have a lot of functions. The processor is a lot faster then my older one and the measurements are nearly instantanious and accurate. The addition of the zero function is really helpfull! I just with there was just one additional feature, the ability to measure Amperage across a wire. When working on electronics its not always a cable or a wire that will need a current check (ie a circuit board), so if testing current on a smaller scale you will need a different DMM. Other than this issue and for the function that this DMM does have it is an outstanding DMM for the price!
