Great concept, Great Convenience and Great price!

I'm a maintenance mechanic covering machinery and equipment in three separate buildings. I schlep about 34 lbs. of tools in a customized tool belt so I always try to find multi-purpose tools to try to save weight as much as I can so when I saw these dogbones I knew I had to get them. Since this is a relatively new tool to own from Craftsman that is kind of hard to find and is out of stock online as soon as I saw them at the local Sears I picked up the SAE and the Metric dogbone wrenches. So here's the skinny: The dogbones seem to be very solid and very strong tools with a 5/16" thick x 5/8 wide handle area and 3/8" diameter pins on which the sockets swivel with a ball bearing detent to hold the socket positions securely in place. It has a strong 8 lb. pull round magnet. The magnet is glued into a recess in the handle. The glue job was noted to be a bit messy since there was some adhesive residue found around the magnets and on the handle itself. I'm not necessarily against the gluing of the magnet since i figure if there is glue that holds aircraft wings together with hundreds/ thousands of pounds of wing loading of which people's lives depend on, I'm sure I can trust that Craftsman had no problem in ensuring that a strong adhesive is used for a magnet with only an 8 lb. rating but time will tell but since the dogbones have the forever warranty I'm not worried about the magnets falling off or anything going wrong with these tools. The Craftsman logo is laser etched of which the visibility isn't bad although a deep stamping of the Craftsman logo on the handle would be nicer to have. The sizes are also laser etched and their visibility is fair considering the limited space to place the size markings on each socket. If you buy these dogbones be sure to check the broaching (cutting) of each of the 6-points. Some of the wrenches had a pretty rough finish of the 6-point socket walls with some metal gouging evident in the deeper socket area on some of the wrenches. It was kind of weird seeing the word China etched on the opposite side of the handle along with the part number. I'm so used to the "Made in USA" for Craftsman. But I think that tool fanatics willing to pay a higher price for a quality made in USA tool in this day and age are not as common as before so just like any other company, Craftsman does what it can to survive and compete and show its value in comparison with the lower quality/cheaper tools from other companies and stay in business in this global economy while trying to keep us tool freaks happy. It's a challenge and I'm willing to give Craftsman the benefit of the doubt! But anyways, I love Craftsman tools and these dogbones have the forever warranty and for $20.00 each it's a very reasonable price and they sure beat having to carry multiple combo wrenches when you don't remember or aren't sure of the size of a fastener. If Craftsman can step up the consistency of the socket broaching finish quality and address the adhesive residue all over the magnet and handles I see no problem getting a 5 star rating for these dogbones.

MADE IN CHINA JUNK!

I have been using craftsman tools for 12 years and I love there hand tools. But today I went to sears and bought there "new" dog bone and I have never been more upset with craftsman tools. First of all its made in CHINA if I wanted to buy junk id go and buy one at the hardware store in there bargain bin. There first dog bone tool they made were 12 point sockets and these are 6 point sockets. Also the pins in the side of the tool fit sloppy.I deffently will be returning it to sears. The only thing I have left to say is BUY AMERICAN MADE TOOLS!

Good All-in-one wrench (SAE)

I'm not a fan of all-in-one tools, but that being said this performs pretty well. I carry it in my vehicle to reduce the number of wrenches required in a confined storage area.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Convenient, but...

This is very convenience but the bulk makes it near impossible to use in any tight spaces.

Convenient tool

This dog bone works very well and I am satisfied with the quality. Normal limitations apply, primarily that accessibility is often limited due to the size of the tool. Otherwise, I give it five stars.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

a whole set of wrenches in one tool

This handy tool fits well in my carry around bag instead of lugging a whole set of wrenches.  Easy to use and easy to store in the shop, since the magnet allows it to hand on the rack in plain vies

I would recommend this product to a friend.
