No Teflon Tape Reqired
This replacement part worked great and no teflon tape or sealant was required. This is a drain **** for a Craftsman Air Compressor.

Drain Cock

I just bought this drain cock valve & I am afraid to replace it on my Craftsman Air Compressor Tank with the 2 negative reviews. No wonder why it isn't safe, it's made in China !!!!!  What happened to American made products ??

Just the right fit.

I have had my craftsman air compressor for many years and after many uses on the drain plug with pliers this handy little replacement came with sealant already on the threads so all I had to do was unscrew the old one and screw in the new one without any fuss.

Overall
not good at all

I got about 3 turns in and the thing snaped of just under the nut. My threads were lined up, and just as i began to put a little bit of pressure on the nut it snapped, leaving the threads inside my comperssor.. Im beyond pissed and disapointed.

Overall
tried twice!

After the first one didn't hold air, I purchased another thinking I did something wrong with the instal. Had a friend help on the second one who has alot of experience with all kinds of stuff, still leaked. Welded it shut plugging the hole and will just use a wrench to get it to work as a drain for water moisture! Kind of defeats the purpose! Don't waste your money!

The wingnut design was bad.... this is much worse!

The original compressor drain valves included a wingnut design that would pinch your fingers a bit, but at least you had the leverage to open and close the valve. This valve sticks once there is pressure in the tank and when you try to open the valve you either can't because you can't apply enough torque with your fingers, or worse the entire thing unscrews and goes rocketing across your garage floor.

This is a horrific redesign, I mean really really REALLY terrible. Sears should be ashamed of themselves.

This air compressor tank drain should be recalled or redesigned.

This 16369 tank drain cock came completely unscrewed and rocketed toward the garage floor like a rocket just missing my hand. Playing spin the drain knob while counting rotations is absurd!   I  personally don't consider this drain design safe and feel it should be recalled.  The disclaimer warning says failure to follow instructions and safety information can result in personal injury. There is no instruction on the package! For most Craftsman and other brands of tank mounted air compressors 1/4-in NPT Thread. Air Drive. It will be returned to the store tomorrow and be replaced with the best air compressor drain cock available from another store.
