This bar is built sturdy and provides protection against damage from low-impact front collisions. I also like the way it looks on the tractor. These are my assembly observations. First, for Craftsman model YT 4000 yard tractor, you do not need to remove the hood. Just raise it. You will need to remove the browning plate as described in the manual. Attach by placing washer on carriage bolt and inserting bolt through tractor frame from under neath tractor (bolt will point to outside) using first front bottom hole on tractor frame and 3rd hole on front of bumper bracket. Secure with whiznut. Do this for both sides and tighten. Now is tricky part. Place washer on bolt and insert into curved rear portion of bumper bracket and into top hole in rear of tractor frame with bolt pointing towards inside. If you follow manual and use same procedure as first bolts, you may have some difficulty holding bolt in place while you tighten whiznut do to limited work space. I found there is sufficient room on inside to use wrench (socket or standard) to tighten whiznut but very difficult to use pliers to hold bolt in that confined space. In other words, when you finish, you will have lower whiznut on outside of tractor frame and higher whiznut on inside of frame. This may not be an issue if you have small hands. Please note that in normal operation, the bumper becomes hot to the touch due to its proximity to engine components. Two of the end plugs became deformed and fell out, but this was no big deal for me. Over all, nice addition but assembly instructions leave quite a bit to be desired.

Installation went very well. The bumper is sturdy and should do a great job of protecting the front of the mower. I had one issue with the carrage bolts. They didn't allow the mounting brackets to come tight to the frame of the mower. I used the large washers provided to compensate for this. Other than that everything was slick.
Bought this bumper bar last year to help protect the front of my new YT4000. Installation was fairly easy & the bar looks good. My only complaint is the plastic end caps that go in each end of the horizontal tubes do not stay in. After about a month after installing the bar, 3 of the 4 end caps had come out, loosing 2 of the 3. When I attempted to get replacements, I was told they were not available. The salesman @ the Sears store where I bought the bar suggested I just returned the whole bar & get another one. I figured another bar would just do the same thing, so I elected to just keep the one I had. Now all 4 end tubes caps are gone. Sears sells parts for everything else, it would be nice if they would provide these end caps as a "part" available for sale as well. Or maybe these end caps should be pre-installed in the bar.
The dual bumper looks great on the lawn tractor, and it does seem like it will prevent damage to the front end from minor bumps and scratches. I was pleased with the overall appearance. However, the bumper's pre-drilled bolt holes do not necessarily line up with the available bolt holes on the Craftsman LT2000. The directions for the bumper installation do not complement the set-up ... so, be prepared to simply use two bolts on each side. If you use one bolt, lock washer, and nut in one hole set, then use the lag screw (bolt) in a second hole, it works fine. These parts come from both the A and B bags. I hate to suggest that you will be "winging it" ... but, two holes do line up fairly nicely if you do not necessarily follow the directions. Hope this helps ...
Tractor was a Mothers Day gift from my son, however I rec'd a lot of help from my local Sears store in being taught about the new features on my Craftsman. Buying the "bumper " was my choice, not only because it looks sharp, it is protection for tractor headlights and front end..."woman driver" you know. Also, as my daughter will be "learning" to run the mower, a ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!.
Our property is full of small trees that arde difficult to always navigate in this hilly terrain. I opted to purchase it on a whim butnow am happy I did. It rotects the front of the tractor nicely. I was surprised when I ordered it and the tractor at the same time and the delivery people asslembled it before they arrived at our rural place. I rated lit "Good" because I have only used it a short time.
My YT4000 was delivered today without the bumper attached...hmmm. OK, so I proceed to install it with the help of my son (smaller hands.) First you identify which install goes with your tractor as this is a multi-fit type part. Next, study the instructions and your tractor and you will realize that there is no need to remove the hood or the browning plate. (Sears please fix the manual.) Just 2 carriage bolts per side through the back of the frame (find someone with small hands,) then a washer and secure with whizlock nuts. You have your choice of three mounting positions...I selected the middle position, which looks good and allows the hood to fully open. The hood just barely touches one side of the bumper when open. I reduced my rating by one star because after 45 minutes of operation the top right plug began to melt and then fell out. This is near the muffler. Really Sears? C'mon, design a metal plug for the bumper ends.
