These Craftsman duck work pants are tough to wear out!

When I bought these duck work pants, I was originally shopping for denim jeans, but when I saw these in the display next to the jeans, I decided to give these a try. When I went to the checkout to pay for them, they rang up at half the sale price posted, so I bought two pair. A very smart move on my part.

The cotton duck fabric is denser and stiffer that most denim, so they take some wear and a few washings before they're really comfortable. They are soft on the inside to your skin, but still wear like steel armour on the outside. No rips or holes in the first week like with regular denim work pants. They also have nice large pockets for keeping your stuff.

The Teflon treatment really helps in making these pants stain-resistant. They will only retain stains if you don't try to remove the stain right away.

After about six months of daily wear between two pair of these duck work pants, they are some of the most comfortable work pants/jeans that I've ever owned. Other than normal wear and some slight stains, they are as good as the day that I bought them.

For the price and how they wear, these duck work pants are a great value and highly recommend them to anyone who is tough on jeans and is tired of replacing them every few months. It looks like I won't need to replace these two pair of mine for a few years!

The Craftsman Duck Carpenter Pants- a good value but snug fit !

On sale, I purchased three pairs (size 32) on-line as my local Sears didn't have my size. Should've bought the 34s as they run a little small/tight. I'm no pear, but I have 24" athletic thighs. I do a lot of crouching and bending and preffer a looser fit. Maybe their sized for someone built more like a bean pole? Following another mail order, the 34s fit, but there's somthing about the front pockets that I'm not thrilled with. Once on, the opening seems a little forward so that the pockets always seem open and the white inner part shows. They catch a lot of dust and debris too easily. The other pockes are great, cell phone well in the thigh pockets without having to dig too deep. I don't need the hammer loop, but hey these are carpenter pants.

A double knee would be really nice, but cost more.

I opened one pair and I've worn and washed them twice and haven't noticed any shrinkage. I'm keeping these, as the price was right and I can't find anything better in the color, but I hope Craftsman will work on those pockets.

Please go back to the original design.

I've been buying the previous version of these pants for years. I'm very disappointed that they changed the design. They are still of the same rugged material, but they are now too baggy and the pockets down by the knees are too small. Why do they make pants only for total slobs and pencil necked mama's boys these days? The original design of these pants was the only happy medium. Oh, well. It looks like I have to start looking for something else.

Thin for Duck

Well made, but thin Duck cloth, compared to Carhartt and Dickies. More like the thickness of jeans. I usually buy pants a little long, to allow for shrinkage ... but since these are Teflon coated, I doubt they will shrink. Bought to size, and I will post if they shrink.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman Workpant

Purchased these pants today. They fit great and are very comfortable. I actually like these more than dickies pants. All the colors look great. They were on sale as well which made me excited. They have alot of options as far as sizes per color as well.

So Far, So Good

After trying and being disappointed by my purchase of the Roebucks Twill Pants (See my review), I decided to give these Craftsman Canvas Carpenter Pants a try.  They are a few bucks more than the twill pants ($25 vs. $22 on sale), but they appear to be better constructed and have the extra pockets that I need for some of my tools.  As a commercial furniture installer, I put a lot of wear and tear on my pants, so quality of construction and durability are important to me.

So far these pants have been fine after my first wearing.  They fit well and they appear to be well made of good materials.  Only time will tell however.  I would prefer that they were made in the US instead of China, but then I'd probably not be paying $25 for them if they were.  I like the extra hip pockets on the right to carry my utility knife and pencil.  The hammer loop isn't of much use however because every time I walk the mallet I try to carry just falls out.  Maybe it works better with the extra weight of a hammer.

Also be aware that the pictures of this product shows a hip pocket on the left leg below the hammer loop.  My pants do not have such a pocket, so either the pants are out of date or the pictures are out of date.  It would be nice to have another hip pocket but my pair doesn't have it.

So far I haven't found anything negative about these pants so I will leave it at that.  The best feature in my book is the 2 year wear warranty.  Will know more in about a year and a half as I get closer to the end of their life expectancy.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nice fit, wears well

I usually get Craftsman jeans for work, but decided to try these this time (good sale price).  They are a bit warmer than jeans, and seem to wear as well.  I have had them for 3 months now, and not a single tear yet, the stains wash right out too.

Great work pants though thigh pocket no longer fits smart phone

I bought a pair of these over a year ago and they have held up from the heavy abuse of my hard working job incredibly well due to the Teflon I believe. Cheaper then Carhartt and better quality - a no brainer.

However I just got a new pair and was bummed to find the right hand thigh pocket was reduced about an inch and a half in width perhaps to cut costs I don't know because now my smart phone wont fit in that pocket which is somewhat essential for a guy wearing a tool belt that covers his hip pockets.

PLEASE RETURN TO ORIGINAL DESIGN!!! I returned my new pair... sorry guys ya blew the call this time.
