It does what it's supposed to do....cut

I picked up a pair of these when they were on sale and they are quite useful.  I like them because they are safer to use than basic utility knives when having to cut something that you can put these around, like tape or small wires.  I just recently ran a stretch of Cat5 cable at work and we used these to make clean cuts in the wire to make the run that much easier.  Granted, not every instance will warrant the use of these cutters, but this is a nice, small addition to any toolbox.

Now my wife wants a pair to use in her classroom...

Made in China
I have used it twice and it works great so far. It pisses me off that it doesn't tell you online that it is made in China. I consider it deceptive since most of us assume that Craftsman tools are Made in U.S.A.

Great Cutters

Great cutters but sears cant sell you a replacement anvil so if you want to buy the cutter and replacement anvils go to ronan tools they sell both about the same price

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Very Useful

very good quality, great sale price, and this one uses easier-to-replace, off-the-shelf single edge blades.....not Craftsman proprietary size and high price blades.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Found hard to locate parts

I have both the older version that was black and gold and this new version. I had the same problem with my old set of needing a new anvil which Sears didn't have so I purchased the new set. After much searching I found out these cutters are made by Ronan Tools and if you go to their site, you can purchase the special blades and anvil for the old style or the anvil for the new Edge cutter. Ronan's shipping is somewhat high but the parts are available. Just FYI for those looking for the parts. I have no idea why Sears doesn't carry these parts in the stores since they do go bad.

Good, it cuts very precisely, but ...

The plastic pad on which the blade cuts wears out very quicly making a deep groove. This groove renders the tool useless for precision cuts on hobby crafts where it is mostly needed. Unfortunately this pad cannot be found to be bought. It doesn't make sense having to spend another 20 bucks for a new one just for another new pad. So if you can replace the blades, why not replace the pad as well?  I came to this web site hoping to find the part, but it looks like Craftsman does not sell it. WHY???  If it did, I'd order 10 pieces right now!  How's that for sales?

Utility Cutter

For the money, this cutter do what the package claims. Also, the blades are replaceable with box cutter blades and are easy to change. While I gave $ 10.00 {not the $ 20.00} this made this a better deal. Helpful to remove small tree branches.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Better Than The Older Model

I was a bit skeptical when I first saw these, as I have used the older version for about 10 years for work,(We use them to cut 3/8" & 3/4" synthetic  manilla rope) & these looked inferior in the pictures. However I decided to give them a try.

I have to say I was pleasantly pleased. Two major improvements have made these better than the originals. First off, you don't need another tool to change the blade. You just pull open the handles & it pops put, then put the new blade in & firmly close the handles to seat the blade.. Done.

Secondly, the blades themselves are common, easily found utility knife blades, which makes finding them easy, unlike the old model, which you could only get at Sears.

I saw an earlier  reviewer say he could only fit 3 blades in the blade storage, but I had no problem fitting 5 in mine. The bottom line is, I've used these for over 10 years, & will continue for another 10 (Hopefully)

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Cuts things like going through butter

I was removing old carpeting, and tried using the same type of razor blade in this Cutter, in a razor holder, and it just jumped over the top. Took me numerous slashes to cut, and then had strings everywhere. Tried to cut carpet with a snips, but started to get blisters. Bought this, and it cut right through. I have used it on many things (today on rubber tubing), and it works great! Four Stars because the rubber pad the razor cuts into, is not covered by Craftsman Warranty, and not sure where to buy a replacement, if it wears out? The more Craftsman is made in China, the less its Warranty means. Which is odd, since the parts should be cheaper for Sears to replace?

I would recommend this product to a friend.
