      Yes, you SHOULD buy it

Its obvious that the majority or people that write reviews are ones that have bad experiences. I have owned my craftsman 1/2 Torque wrench for almost three years. I have used it 100+ times utilizing the entire spectrum from 20 ft. lbs. to 200 ft. lbs. It is a shame that it is only human nature to go out of our ways to ***** about things but not do the same to show thanks and gratitude. I am sure sears has sold more than.......10 of these.

      Total junk
Bought both the 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch drive digital wrenches. Both broke within one day. I am a professional outboard engine mechanic so I needed things that last.Sears refuses to warranty them so I have 400 dollars worth of trash. The digital face costs more than the wrench so never again...I would think when these are the most expensive they have then they would back them.

      Easy to use!

Excellent torque wrench! I use it to change the blades on my mower and very easy to dial in the amount of torque and the wrench beeps when you hit your desired amount. No complaints here; especially when I found this torque wrench at 50% off the clearance price!

      DO NOT PURCHASE THIS WRENCH!!!

I would have given zero stars, but that was not an option. I am going to keep this straight and to the point. First off, I should have listened to all of the bad reviews and stayed away from this tool. I work in the power generation business, and therefore use this tool frequently. I purchased it in December of 2013, and today was informed that outside of the 90 day warranty that I am unable to get any service on the wrench. For the time that I used the wrench it was accurate, and seemed to perform well. My biggest problem is that tools like this do break, or have issues and there is no support what so ever. I am through buying tools from Sears. So in a nutshell if you want to risk throwing away a couple hundred dollars, then do what I did and don't believe the people that left reviews on here.

      poor quality - not reliable

Only used a few times over the past couple of years. Started acting up with display scrolling and not stopping. Changed batteries to no avail. Checked the warranty (I am "was" a true craftsman fan) and found only a 90 day warranty on a $200+ craftsman tool. Had I known this, would have saved my money. Now an "err" is displayed. Doing a web search, I see my problem is all too common for this worthless tool. What a waste of money - totally unreliable. DO NOT BUY THIS TOOL.

It works and there is a plus side

I have a couple of these wrenches and when it works, it is awesome. If it is bad out of the box, just take it back and get a new one. If you don't use it often, take the batteries out because it does drain your batteries, but there is a fix to it. And before people complain, my Dewalt laser level chews up my batteries if I don't take them out. So many reputable companies have this issue with numerous products. Now as for the readings going bad after time or other electrical issues, there is a fix for this. People were complaining that their wrench won't even turn on with new batteries and other issues. The repair cost from Sears is really expensive. There is a fix. Do a search online for how to fix my craftsman digital torque wrench. Siber sonic is the website. Not sure if the website will be allowed up in this review, but it is http://siber-sonic.com/hardwaretools/47711tw.html All I can say is it helped me out. Regardless if you use the 3/8th or 1/2 inch wrench. If you experience some of the issues the other site talks about, I think you will be happy to know it is an easy fix. I hope this helps a lot of upset customers. Honestly, this is one of the last USA made tools Craftsman has going. I stay with it for the simple fact I try to buy as much American stuff as I can. Sears and Craftsman, you really lost me by 2011. Been with you since the 70's for hand tools.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      Junk

I bought this tool and the 3/8 drive one about a 2 years ago on black Friday for engine building I used it once to put lug nuts on and it worked great just to see how it worked then it sat in my house for about a year with the batteries out whent to use it for my engine project and it wouldn't stay on and same story with the 3/8 one. they wouldn't take them back so thanks for wasting my $300 word of advice don't waste your money on the digital bull **** and buy a click one like I did after finding this out the hard way.

Craftsman Electronic Torque Wrench, 1/2 in. Drive

I bought this for my son for Christmas, he is a mechanic by trade and this will come in useful in his line of work. I had looked at several and he had told me that the digital one is easier to read and would be quicker in doing his work. Although, I have not given this gift as of yet, I know this is exactly what he wanted and it will be very useful to him in his work.

      Works Great!

just bought this wrench to have for a back up While my good Snap On wrench was getting re-calibrated. I found it a little difficult to get used to the beep vs a "click" but it did the job and just took some getting used to. I have been a professorial car restorer for 15 year and I find that it is not the best, but for the Average person doing lug checks it is a good tool. There is still no substitute for a great Snap On tool, but that is just my brand loyalty speaking.

      quality?

The plastic was damaged not just on 1 but 2 wrenchs. I bought 2 wrenchs elsewhere for the price of this one and saved over $80.
