Preparing My Craftsman YTS 4000 Tractor included changing the oil and oil filter for the harsh winter snow plowing months ahead. I went to my favorite local Sears store and purchased the Craftsman Tractor Oil Filter #7133935. The packaging and Salesperson were helpful in assisting me to choose the correct oil filter. This filter will fit all Briggs & Stratton engines 12-26 gross HP ( stated on back of packaging) engines that have the pressure lube system.
Quite honestly, I don't know if there are other oil filters that will fit my tractor. I am one of those people that will select original manufacturer replacement parts if available. So it was not difficult for me to look for Craftsman.
Installing the oil filter is simple enough, with the directions on the filter. It's hard to go wrong..no direction sheet to misplace. Before removing the old filter, be sure to place something under the tractor to catch any dripping oil. It is noted on the packaging that this oil filter replaces the manufacturer's #696854 filter.
I feel that the Craftsman Tractor Oil Filter #7133935 is the best choice for my Craftsman YTS 4000 Tractor. Thanks to Craftsman,,I hope to enjoy many years of performance from my tractor by using Craftsman products.
The Fram Filter equivalent is PH8170. They made this so difficult to find out that I thought I would put it on the site.

I buy these routinely but have never had to pay as much as I did this time. I have since found a source to buy them online. I needed it and was glad Sears had it in stock but felt like they were taking advantage of a customer.

Good to get an exact part for our riding Craftsman mower and know it will fit. I have found that bargain parts are not always a bargain--if you are trying to get them to fit.

I went to Sears to purchase an oil filter for my lawn tractor. I grabbed the filter that fit my model. I did not really look at the price. How much could a small oil filter like this cost anyway? I was shocked when it rang in at over $18. On Ebay I could get a similar filter for $5. This item is WAY over priced. Never again.

I was very disappointed to learn that this filter cost me more than 3 times the cost of a CAR or TRUCK oil filter!! WHY? I will be looking online for a aftermarker one now..too bad they are pricing themselves out of business.

The els oil filter is a rather unique oil filter for the 24 horse briggs and stratton engine that is installed in the Craftsman yts 4000. It is located on the left side of the motor where it is easily accessible and you want to ensure that you have drained all the oil completely before removing.

this is the higher end one, would recomend it. installs easily at least on my crafttman briggs 46" 24hp model.

Are you kidding me? Seventeen dollars for an oil filter? C'mon Sears. I have an entire shop full of Craftsmen power tools, hand tools, a riding mower and assorted attachments and I have never felt "ripped off" like I did when I went to replace my oil filter. I have already gotten used to the fact that I rarely get any customer service when I go into my local Sears store but NOW I also have to pay an outrageous price to boot. It's a good thing that the Craftsman product is still superior or I would have no reason to come back.
