Batteries self-discharge in a month, useless unless specially charged
The drill seems to be a reasonably-funcitoning tool, and as a bonus the 18v battery will drive the similarly-shaped older plug-in (as opposed to slide-on) 19.2v craftsman tools. However, the batteries that come with it are chinese cheapies with high self-discharge. Charge it, set it on the shelf, and it will barely go around in a month. Basically, what you expect to happen to a battery in 3 years of use, these do out of the box. I was too busy to return them, so took the loss. The warranty doesn't seem to cover the battery. Craftsman don't mean what it used to. And I bought two of them since I wanted 2 batteries. Guess they snookered me. These are fairly useless unless you plug in the slow-as-mud wall-wart trickle charger the day before to get a charge on it.

Great Drill Driver

I've owned a few drill drivers in my time, including brands like Makita, Dewalt, and Ryobi. This one equals, if not beats the best of them. Plenty of torque and power for any job you throw at it; and the two speed settings make driving crews much easier than using a very light touch on the trigger of a driver with a single speed. Time will tell about battery life. My only concern is the availability of replacement battery and charger. This one doesn't sit in a charger, as others on the market do. You plug the cord directly into the battery. This is a very non-standard setup. I don't believe that you can get an after-market replacement from anyone else should this battery die. That is my reason for not giving it the last star.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
