In part one of the "Homemade Home Gym" series, Mike Woodman exercises his woodworking skills to build a plyo agility box, while Michael Moody, a personal trainer from Revival Fitness, shows us how to use it.

1. Cut 2 matching pieces of 2x6 at the desired length and 2 more for the width. 48"x 16" are some good dimensions to start with.
2. Screw the 4 pieces together, creating a box. The 2x6's should be long set on their small edge.
3. Attach ¾" plywood to the top of the box, making sure the plywood does not hang over the edge of the 2x6's.
4. Sand any rough spots and corners.
5. Spray adhesive on top of the plywood and on the back of the mat. Then press the mat onto the plywood. If the mat doesn't fit, simply trim the edges using a utility knife.
6. Attach the no-slip material with spray adhesive on the bottom of the 2x6's.
7. Set some heavy objects on the mat after gluing and let them sit so the mat does not come up.
8. Start exercising.
1. Determine the height, width and length of the box and cut pieces of plywood to size.
2. Glue the edges of the plywood before assembly.
3. Attach plywood together by first using a brad nailer (optional) or predrill and screw the four sides together.
4. Using the outside dimensions of the box, cut another piece of plywood for the top, keeping it flush with all the sides.
5. Glue the top edges and screw them in.
6. Sand any rough spots and corners.
7. Spray adhesive on top of the plywood and on the back of the mat. Then press the mat on the plywood. If mat doesn't fit, simply trim the edges using a utility knife.
8. Attach the no-slip material with spray adhesive n the bottom of the plywood edging.
9. Set some heavy objects on the mat after gluing and let them sit so mat does not come up.
10. Start exercising!
