How to Build a Wooden Sword
Since no knight is complete without a proper sword, before you dominate the battleground, you'll need the king of all swords. Let our master woodsmith, Mike Woodman, show you how to make just that.
Difficulty
1. Using the template, trace out the sword on a piece of plywood. (1/2" plywood is fine for daggers and smaller swords; use 3/4" for larger weapons, though.)
2. Start by running both of the long straight edges of the sword through a table saw, stopping just before the handle.
3. Use a jigsaw to cut out the handle and the tip of the blade.
4. Sand down the edges and any rough spots.
5. Stain or paint as desired.
