It would be nicer if the handles could extend to give more leverage!

Can cut up to 3'' limbs with ease. My 75 year Aunt and Uncle love these loppers. Good for general lopping. I recommend greasing the blade area, this will make cutting easier. Extremely sturdy design, can handle the biggest jobs.

I bought this lopper figuring it can cut big limbs - I was mistake. Then I got the Craftsman compound action lopper - it had the leverage but lacked the big jaw that I needed. I hopes Sears is listening. Please mate the big jaws with the compound action lopper.

The 83723 loppers have great quality a great value and a pleasure to use. I have an orchard and have purchased many loppers. These are the best I have found and they cost less then most others. I don't have to baby these, they are strong and hold up well. The 3" capacity is the largest I have found and adds to their versatility. The heavy forged jaws should last a long time. The only disadvantage is that individual parts do not appear to be replaceable/ available.

Now, I already have a few pair of bypass pruner lopping shears. What made this pair really stand out was the pair's extraordinarily large cutting profile. With no compound leverage, I know that this doesn't mean that the pair are able to single-handedly rip through limbs that should be sawn, instead of lopped. And, being bypass, instead of anvil type shears, means they are not designed to cut thick dead wood, either. However, the pair excels at gathering up groups of fresh volunteer shouts and thick black-berry vines and snapping in half large volumes of individually small green sapplings. They really cut down of the repetiveness of the normal pruning process. And, a pair of THESE hanging on the garage wall, never fails at gathering a little friendly neighborhood tool envy.

Wow, these babies are sharp! With their long handles and forged blades, the work great for trimming tree branches with ease! With my expierence, they seam to work great on branches up to 2.5" in diameter and are faster then using a hand saw. I periodicly do sharpen mine after extended use. Just light sharpening to maintain the sharp edge, nothing major. This lopper is designed to last many years, great investment! Also carries craftsmans lifetime warranty!
