Product Description

1/2 hp Chain Drive Garage Door Opener Opens by Remote, Inside and from Car

Enjoy a great end to every day by installing the Craftsman Garage Door Opener with Anti-Burglary Coding today. The 1/2 HP motor lifts your garage doors gently and doesn't close until it's sure you've arrived safely inside. You don't have to rush in because advanced sensors will reverse the closing doors if they detect your car's motion. Once you're in, the PosiLock system will make sure the garage doors are closed tight behind you.

You receive two remotes with this 1/2 hp Chain Drive Garage Door Opener. Keep one for yourself and give another to a family member or friend if you have a double garage. If it happens that you lose your remote, you can open from inside the house. Another option is to have a homelink visor installed so you can open it from inside your car. For your safety, it uses top anti-burglary technology that sends a new code every time you use it. This prevents thieves from interfering or activating it when you're not home.

  • The Craftsman Garage Door Opener with Anti-Burglary Coding ensures you a smooth and safe drive into your garage every day
  • Hardworking 1/2 HP motor with chain system lifts and closes garage doors with ease
  • Sensor technology reverses closing doors if they detect motion from your car
  • PosiLock system closes door tight
  • Comes with 2 remotes with anti-burglary technology that sends new codes every time you use them
  • If you lose remote, open from interior
  • Alternately, install homelink compatible visor to open from inside car
  • Dependable system that won't cause harm to property or users

1st Time Installer
Our old Craftsmen that was in our home for the 7 1/2 years that we have lived here (and well aged prior to our home purchase) died about a month ago. Being unemployed I was concerned with spending too much and settled for the 953930. I have never installed a garage door opener and was concerned with installing the unit alone. Much to my delight the unit was easy to install and took about 3 hours. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I caution anyone to NOT test the unit until it is completly installed. I "test " ran the unit prior to installing the door stop sensors and attaching the door. It was a mistake and created an additional hour of work to adjust the chain to the correct position. If your replacing your unit and have an existing rail, I suggest that you go ahead and repalce everything... after all you did pay for it and your rail could have some un noticed wear. It really is not much more work and the unit operates much quieter. I believe it was a great value for the money. If you are a Craftsman club member you can receive additional discounts when offerd saving an additional $10, just ask a Slaes Associate about joining, it is free.

Not as good as past models.
In 2006, replaced a 1980 model Craftsman opener that was already up when we bought the house. Not bad: 26 years of service. New opener worked great. Replaced the controller card because of an electrical surge ($96). April 2009 - less than 3 years service - the chain-drive gear snapped off the gear-train axle. On examination this shaft narrows to less than 1/4-inch (!) at the bearing. I could replace it but now (including the controller board) we're well into the original price. Not pleased. Note that the 4-year warranty is on the MOTOR. The motor still works fine. The rest of the opener - not as good as an equivalent Craftsman model from 26 years ago.

Adequate opener --had difficulties installing

This is adequate opener its same as a liftmaster sears price is better than getting from an door installer. I bought this to replace an equal model that was over 8 years old because I thought the "retrofit "would be an easy installation. It wasn't. It may be a 1 in 100 situation but I found out the carton I got DID not have all the parts. After installing ,and after quite a ordeal setting the stop limits , I finally opened the cover and found the stop limit gears were not attached correctly. No wonder the stop limits weren't working! It may be 1 in 100 situation that I got a bad unit , however after my ordeal and having done MANY DIY projects as homeowner for 30 years I would say this unit is NOT a DIY friendly Way to many parts and components to assemble out of the carton So if you get this consider having it installed by Sears or others. and then again if you paying that much for your garage opener, you probably can get a unit with more HP or features , etc

1/2 HP Chain Drive opener

The good: easily replaced old unit that broke after 16 years of use. Works well and is fairly smooth and quiet. The bad: Is not backwards compatible with my old "grey button" remotes on my other door. Universal remotes are extremely overpriced, 3 remotes would cost more then the opener. VERY disappointed in this aspect.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Affordable and Quiet

This opener replaced our old one from 1998 that died on us and model was discontinued. Purchased this brand thru my home warranty company and can't believe how affordable and QUIET it is compared to our old one. I definitely recommend using Sear's installation, these guys really know their stuff, friendly, professional and priced fairly.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
