Great Buy, Good Features
I bought this opener after buying my new car and having a new baby and baby things to shlep around. It made things so much easier. It is a great buy for the money and has some excellent features. The security pad outside the garage door allows my 14yr old to come and go after school with out having a key to the house we have to worry about her loosing. The two remotes have allowed my husband to have one as well as my father in law. I was able to program the remote capabilities for my car with this opener as well. Its like having three remotes for the same opener! I wasn't so sure about buying a garage door opener with a chain drive. I have never bought an opener before and had just assumed that a belt drive would be quiter. They may be. However, I felt that a chain drive would probably last longer so that is the one I bought. I figured I would just deal with the noise. After having the opener professionally installed by Sears (they did a fabulous job and the guy really knew his stuff), I was very pleasantly surprised that the chain isnt loud at all. As a matter of fact, the thing that is making the noise is my metal garage door. The chain drive doesnt seem to be making noise at all! I would highly recomend this product. The price is great. The lighting feature, extra remotes and car programable ability, the key pad and the lock out capability are absolutely great. I use all of them.

Logic Board
I have 2 of these openers. One has stopped working due to a bad logic board. It is still under the 2 year warranty. I was initially informed by their customer service rep that they would ship a replacement to me and I would have it at my front door within 5-7 days. Just received word from them that a replacement unit can not be shipped. A service call by their technician would need to be scheduled (approx $65) to determine exactly what the problem is. Then that person would provide an estimate of the cost of labor to install and date of installation. My reply was why should I pay for a service call to determine that the logic board is bad (which is already a known fact and supported by historical data on the subject) since it is estentially the only part besides the motor in the unit and takes approximately 4 screws and unplugging of 2 circuit board plugs to replace it. I asked what happened to the "advertised do - it - yourself"? No answer was provided. I told the rep I will throw the unit out since the cost of a new one is almost eual in $$. Their answer was "Thank you for shopping Sears". Should have kept the old opener which was working fine after 15 years. Only replaced due to age. SHAME ON ME! What will I do? Research other brands of garage openers. Sears garage door openers now fall in same catagory as their appliances - we will no longer buy it.

Easy install and setup

Just installed this unit two weeks now, very easy to install, programming the remotes was easier. Enough power for my heavy door. Quiet. So good so far.

no problems

The safety features seemed to work well, and I tested them thoroughly because the Sears opener I bought 20 years ago occasionally let the door close even when the optical beam was blocked (design flaw). At that time, a child in a nearby city died from a garage door opener (brand unknown). So do NOT bypass the safety beam! A tall garage door may need the overhead unit installed farther back (with optional extension kit for the rail & chain), but the wires for the optical safety beam system may not be long enough then, unless run diagonally along the ceiling. No lubrication needed for rail, unlike with my old Sears opener. Assembly was straightforward, and I didn't even have to adjust the downward limit of door travel. The online owner's manual says clamp vise grips near the front of the overhead rail to keep the trolley from sliding forward during cable installation, but the printed manual says just stick a screwdriver through a pair of holes there.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Deal!

I was able to buy this item on sale and love it! I now have an outdoor pin to enter and do not need my remote to enter my garage if I am out in my yard!

Awesome Opener/Great Customer Service

I bought two of these openers online and then picked them up at my local store. I installed the first one by myself in about two hours. It was a lot easier than I thought that it would be. I took a break and came back to install the second opener and after already assembling the rail, I realized that the inner trolley was missing. I feared that Sears might not take it back or that they would have to order the part and delay my installation. I took the who thing back with the assembled rail and Sears had no problem taking it. The second unit is now installed and works as great as the first one. My only gripe is the price for the 8ft door extension.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Value

Installation and programming fairly simple. Completely satisfied with this opener and glad I purchased with the complete accessory package. Plus, two lights on opener adds much needed lighting to a larger garage.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

This one replaced a 20 year old Craftsman.

Install was reasonable, but need to follow the Homelink directions exactly or you could get frustrated easily. I did.

Security+ 315 MHz

Purchased and installed April 2013. So far the motor function as expected. New Transmitter/Receiver 315 MHz frequency are not compatible with older controllers or the HomeLink in vehicles. Therefore the 3 Stars rating.
