We have had the unit for 5 years. In year 4, both remotes stopped working and I tried reprograming them a couple times without success. I tried taking the remotes to the store and the employee only could come up with changing the battery. I had the batteries tested at *********** and they were fine. I called the Sears garage door specialist and they have a $99 service charge and said for $99 you can buy new remotes. So either way I lose. Luckily, the key pad still works. Not worth pay 50% of the total costs just for new remotes. Now without having openers for a year, in year 5 the optical eyes believe something is in the way of the door closing. I have swept away all dirt and debris and they still don't work. After 20 attempts it may finally close. Now I have to manually close the door. So what is the point of the device? The opener is now worthless. It would be less hassel and just as cost effective to buy a new unit. I am stuck fixing this garbage or buying a new unit that won't give me so much trouble. You get what you pay for with this stuff. Look elsewhere. These things should last more than 5 years.

This opener is strong, quiet and smooth, but..... 1) Only sears garage door opener bulbs work on this opener. I like to use fluorescent bulbs to save money, but they don't last at all (vibrations). 2) Opens slower than my old Genie I replaced. 3) Range of remote is shorter than my old Genie. I used to be two houses down and the door would open from that range. I'm in my driveway now before it senses the remote so I have to wait to enter garage. 4) Bought on sale for $170 (wait if you can and only buy on Sears.com as it's ALWAYS cheaper than in store).

Well, the subject linen says it all, but there is an interesting story that I would like to tell in order to support it. When we had a new house built, it came with a $500 garage door opener option. Given the excellent price I had paid for this item at Sears, and the service this opener had provide us for almost two years, I felt it worthwhile to pay $200 to have it removed from our old residence and installed in our new garage, rather than accepting some tiny contractor grade opener. I am glad I made that choice!

Overall the opener is excellent concerning power, but the mount brackets are weak causing the door to bounce during opening and stopping movement.

This is the third one I've boughten in the last 40 years (for three different homes) and they are a very good product. Most of the appliances I have in my home are either Sears Craftsman or Kenmore- so I'm a 'dyed-in-the-wool' patron. What I didn't like about this door opener was that I couldn't install the opener WITHOUT the door sensors at the bottom of the door. For me, they were un-necessary- the door down sensor with the force control is all that is needed. (I've been a design engineer for Xerox for 40 years).

this is a nice item and it has a lot of nice features. very quick install by a sears installer. a good value for the money. the 3/4 HP motor is a bit of an overkill, but it opens the door quickly and quietly.

We have an 8' garage door and this opener is powerful enough to open and close it without any issues. It comes with a keypad to mount on the outside of the garage door and extras like being able to lock it from inside the garage for extra security. Worth the money.
