Product Description

Get better versatility with the 3-Function Garage Door Opener.

The Craftsman Visor Remote Control Garage Door Opener lets you control three different garage doors from the comfort of your car. The metallic hook slides onto the visor, and the slim, dark profile makes it easy to access when you need it, but easy to ignore when you don't. Designed to handle both billion and rolling code technologies, this remote is compatible with all Craftsman garage door openers built after 1993.

The 3-Function Garage Door Opener includes an LED light that lets you know when a signal has been sent to the garage door. The same LED also indicates whether the battery needs to be replaced. Ideal for multi-car garages, this opener controls doors from even greater distances. It also comes in handy if you've lost your older remote or you're in need of an upgrade.

  • Craftsman Visor Remote Control Garage Door Opener opens garages from greater distances
  • Operate up to three different Craftsman garage door openers
  • LED light gives visible feedback that the signal has been sent, and also indicates when the battery requires changing

Try this programming trick before calling it quits...
I have a Craftsman Garage Door Opener that was made in 1999. The programming button on the opener is green. The rep in the store told me that I could program the opener with out ever taking it out of the package (allowing easy return if it didn't work for me). This however was NOT the case. At least not with my garage door opener. You have to open it up because you need to access the program button on the back side of the opener (which later gets covered by the clip). Follow the instructions included with the remote. 1. Press the program button on the remote. 2. Press the learn button on the garage door opener. 3. STEP FURTHER AWAY FROM THE GARAGE DOOR OPENER 4. THEN press the desired button on the remote. 5. If the light bulb flashes on the opener, press another button on the remote to exit program mode. I tried this a dozen times without stepping away for step 4. It never worked. When I stepped away, it worked the first time. Hope this is helpful.

This did not work with my '98 Craftsman garage door opener.

Beware that this product may not work with older models even though it says it does.

Here's the low down...

The battery ran out of my old craftsman garage remote ('98 model with a red Learn button on the back of the unit), and after replacing the battery for the remote that originally came with it, it seemed to recognize the unit because the light on the opener clicked as it said it would, but it would not open the garage door when the remote was pressed.

I then bought a non Sears brand universal remote at Home Depot and it didn't work even though it was supposed to be compatible with Craftsman. So I returned that and went to Sears and bought a replacement remote just like the one I had previously. Same as before, it seemed to program after the opener light clicked, but it wouldn't open the door.

I returned this remote and called the Sears tech people to ask which was the right remote for my unit. They said something about the government changing frequencies which is why the older remote model didn't work, and they gave me two model numbers they said would work with it. I bought one online (they didn't have them at the Sears store). When I got the remote and programmed it, it worked sporadically. I would press the button and the door would open, but when I pressed it again the door wouldn't shut, and vice versa. After pressing several times it proved to be a hit or miss proposition, opening/closing maybe once every 20 or so clicks but with no regularity.

So I returned this remote to Sears and bought this more expensive UNIVERSAL REMOTE that works with ALL sears craftsman garage door openers.. Yes, you guessed it. It didn't work either. I really don't believe the problem lies with the receiver on the garage door opener unit, since it worked perfectly before the remote battery went out. What a waste. Terribly frustrating!

Easy Remote

This remote replaced the one that was lost. The directions were very clear. By pushing a couple of buttons, the door was moving up and down with one click of the remote. We have the option of adding the other garage door to this one remote at any time.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great remote and easy to program

I bought a home that didn't have the remote control for the garage opener, therefore I had to go purchase one from Sears. The remote works fine and is very easy to program. The only problem I would say is that the cost of one remote is about 1/3 of the cost of a brand new garage door opener system which has the motor, sensors, touch pad, and 2 remotes! That's the only thing I find ridiculous. How is it that 1 remote cost that much?

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good replacement garage door opener

Bought this to replace a missing garage door opener. Easy to setup. Price was cheaper online, but local store matched sears.com price.

New garage remote for me

Purchased the item at Sears and needed to have it working right away. At first could not get the remote programmed to work on my door. Kept working on it and eventually got it to work. Used the info from our garage door manual rather than the instructions from the remote.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
