Product Description
Get better versatility with the 3-Function Garage Door Opener.
The Craftsman Visor Remote Control Garage Door Opener lets you control three different garage doors from the comfort of your car. The metallic hook slides onto the visor, and the slim, dark profile makes it easy to access when you need it, but easy to ignore when you don't. Designed to handle both billion and rolling code technologies, this remote is compatible with all Craftsman garage door openers built after 1993.
The 3-Function Garage Door Opener includes an LED light that lets you know when a signal has been sent to the garage door. The same LED also indicates whether the battery needs to be replaced. Ideal for multi-car garages, this opener controls doors from even greater distances. It also comes in handy if you've lost your older remote or you're in need of an upgrade.
- Craftsman Visor Remote Control Garage Door Opener opens garages from greater distances
- Operate up to three different Craftsman garage door openers
- LED light gives visible feedback that the signal has been sent, and also indicates when the battery requires changing
- Available for Gift Wrap

Beware that this product may not work with older models even though it says it does.
Here's the low down...
The battery ran out of my old craftsman garage remote ('98 model with a red Learn button on the back of the unit), and after replacing the battery for the remote that originally came with it, it seemed to recognize the unit because the light on the opener clicked as it said it would, but it would not open the garage door when the remote was pressed.
I then bought a non Sears brand universal remote at Home Depot and it didn't work even though it was supposed to be compatible with Craftsman. So I returned that and went to Sears and bought a replacement remote just like the one I had previously. Same as before, it seemed to program after the opener light clicked, but it wouldn't open the door.
I returned this remote and called the Sears tech people to ask which was the right remote for my unit. They said something about the government changing frequencies which is why the older remote model didn't work, and they gave me two model numbers they said would work with it. I bought one online (they didn't have them at the Sears store). When I got the remote and programmed it, it worked sporadically. I would press the button and the door would open, but when I pressed it again the door wouldn't shut, and vice versa. After pressing several times it proved to be a hit or miss proposition, opening/closing maybe once every 20 or so clicks but with no regularity.
So I returned this remote to Sears and bought this more expensive UNIVERSAL REMOTE that works with ALL sears craftsman garage door openers.. Yes, you guessed it. It didn't work either. I really don't believe the problem lies with the receiver on the garage door opener unit, since it worked perfectly before the remote battery went out. What a waste. Terribly frustrating!

Only have owned this unit for about 2 months. It works well with our Craftsman 3/4HP GDO. The unit does not rattle while out car is in motion

Purchased and tried to program remote to coincide with three other remotes. After numerous tries and having to tighten down door opener tension due to all the openings and closings of the door, discovered the remote would only work within 6 inches of the opener. Swapped batteries and still would not work any better. Exchanged for another new opener and had the same problem. Then I read online review about stepping away from the opener before programming. Presto! It worked instantly. Craftsman needs to add this additional info to it's instructions.

Although Sears in their infinite wisdom discontinued sales of the remote for my garage door within five years of my purchase, they finally came out with this replacement. The directions were easy to read, follow, and program. It took me less than five minutes from the time I opened the package to putting my ladder away after the programming. Thank you, Sears, for finally making an acceptable replacement.

OK, I'm an engineer, it does work BUT there are additional programming details not expected. On some openers, it MUST be removed from packaging to program it as there is another Program button on the REMOTE, under the visor clip that must be pressed before the Learn button on the receiver. Even then it took 3 tries for it to work/accept the transmitter but it DOES work.. Info on box is incomplete, does not include this. I assume other/most? receivers do not require this additional step. Remove it from packaging and try before giving up/returning it. I would have returned it without having read other warning. Enjoy

I had an older remote that I had to click and play around with until it worked. I finally broke down and purchased this replacement. The first one I bought was defective, but was cheerfully replaced. The new one was easy to program and works well.
