I was going to spend $55 on the top-brand digging tool that most metal detectorists carry. Luckily stumbled on this in my local Sears. I figured for $15, it'd be worth a try, and it's got the infamous Craftsman Free Replacement guarantee (for non-commercial use). Can't beat that with a stick. It's a little shorter and heavier than the 'L' digger and the sheath is flimsy, but overall I can't find any downfalls in the tool itself. It cuts roots like butter, stays decently sharp even though it's sawing through dirt and bumping into rock. It looks easy to sharpen, although I haven't had to yet. The serrated side is corse enough that using a chainsaw file should work fine. There is also a root cutting notch in the tip. Very convenient. And there are inch-marks on it. While metal detecting, the detector tells me how deep the target coin is. Then I cut a plug of sod that is about the depth of the coin (as long as it's within 6")...Flip the plug over, and there's the target. The marks make that a breeze. The handle is hollow plastic, but seems solidly built. The full-tang really makes a difference in the feel of the digger. I am thinking of drilling a couple holes in the plastic and filling it with epoxy, although it probably doesn't need it. I plan on going to a leather shop and having them make a proper sheath for it. Even if it costs $15 for the sheath, I still saved money and wound up with a tough-as-nails, bad-a$$ digger that will last many years. I am going to be reccomending this as an alternative to my MDing friends, as well as on the forums I frequent. Great tool, worth every penny.

I love this garden tool so much! I own a small nursery and have several landscaping jobs. I volunteer with the local high school horticulture program. I am cautious about loaning my tool to anyone! Also have my own very large yard with many gardens that need my attention. It is easy to hold, easy to dig out weeds. Love the cutting features. Love even more the lifetime warranty. It is SO much better than the expensive Hori Hori tool. I have recommended it to many of my friends and customers. Should probably get an extra in case mine "disappears. :)

First bought a planter tool last fall and could not get over how easy it was to use compared to a trowel.Just bought one for my neighbor, my daughter and a spare for myself. Makes planting bulbs and weeding easier than ever. It is sharp and effective.

I love this tool, First it looks like a knife when it is in its sheath strapped to your side. You look like one mean gardener, until you pull out your shovel. But most of all it is a Great tool, very heavy duty, digs holes in sod for planting small trees, cut holes in landscape cloth, removing weeds this is the tool to have. I got mine on sale liked it so much I got one for my wife and paid full price for hers. But now after working in the garden, we can take a walk around the neighborhood with them hanging on our sides. And make our neighbors wonder. Okay the sheath that comes with the tool is cheep, but it?s the tool that worth the money not the sheath

The garden planter tool is a multi-use tool and we use it for digging seed holes, cutting weed roots below ground, cutting planting string, and pounding in small row stakes.

The garden tool/knife is a Craftsman so I have no problem with it. However, the sheath is made of cheap vinyl that is too tight for the tool/knife. I put a cut in the sheath with the serrated edge the first time I tried to put the tool/knife it back in. IMO the sheath is worthless. If you really need a sheath you'll have to buy/find a more durable sheath made out of leather.

I like Craftsman products because the are super tough and durable. I can always count on craftsman to help me the get the job done! This garden tool is the best that I have ever used! It is strong enough to dig out those unwanted weeds without the handle breaking! This is a wonderful too. It's worth every penny I spent for it!
