Love how easy to use this spade. Both sturdy and sharp!

This is a garden spade; not a transfer shovel. You most likely want a transfer shovel. The garden spade is smaller and really for working in beds, not for moving large amounts of dirt.

I like the long, lightweight arm of this boarder spade, but the angle of the plasic handle threw me off for a while. You also can't put a lot of force on the plastic handle itself or it might snap. Overall, however, a good shovel.

The spade is too flimsy, I was afraid it will break when I pushed the ground. Get something heavier duty than this one.

About 6 years ago I needed a shovel to get my small car out of the snowy streets of Chicago, so I picked up this beauty. It is WONDERFUL! The best shovel I have ever used. It is small, light weight, and can cut through ice and hard frozen snow. It is a nimble tool, meaning that I could get to hard to reach places and tight spots. It also fits in my trunk. I've never used it in a garden, but I bet it would work great. I have used it for cleaning and covering camp fires, but that is as close to dirt I have ever used it. I have average sized feet (size 10.5), so I had no problems with the foot rest. I did use it with boots on so it may be hard to use with soft soled shoes? Best of all, it is a Craftsman and it is covered by the hand tool warranty which was the major decision for me.

This border spade is comfortable to use because of the grip and the shape of the handle. I had to be picky when selecting because one of the spades had a rough spot in the fiberglass handle makeing it unusable. The only thing that would improve this spade is to make the part where you leverage with your feet bigger (double the curent size).
