The Craftsman Sleeve Hitch needs to be replaced

I like the old Sears tractors with 3 point hitches and attachments they sold back in the late 1960's and 1970's.  The new garden tractors have cheap frames that feel like they will turn into a cork screw if you attempt to do something the old tractors would do.  They lowered the ground clearance on the sleeve hitch so you can't cultivate much at all without scalping the crops.  Even the old tractors needed more ground clearance.  The handle is cheap tubing that is in danger of being snagged on something.  I have heard several of the sleeve hitches have broken.  The impression I have is the designers trimmed all of the cost out and left customers with a tool they can't get much use of.

Missing Parts

I probably would have rated this higher, but when the box arrived unopened or damaged I assumed everything was OK. The handle that was pre-assembled was missing the main bracket. The adjustment bar was missing also. The hardware bad was not sealed and it was missing many hardware pieces. Agri-Fab makes the part and they're making good on it, but the point is, what happened to quality and inspections?

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nice!

Wasn't sure what to expect and as others have said, you don't have many choices. If you want to use attachments behind your GT - you need a sleeve hitch. Assembly is easy and the hitch is much Beefier than I had anticipated. Initial impression is GREAT. Installed and ready for work.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

It's inexpensive, but the only game in town for the money

On a 2012 CTX 9500, 30 HP Garden Tractor. I had to drill the frame to get it mounted and my Box Scraper dragged when raised. Then I had to get creative with heavier mounting hardware to raise it 2'" and still be solidly mounted. The steel is soft and the edges of the Hitch is dented from backing Cart and De-thatcher. I have an older Cat-0, 3-point Hitch, which is more versatile, that I'm modifying to to replace it. You need to be talented to mount this Sleeve Hitch securely at the proper height, on a CTX GT, so you can move dirt.

Overall
Craftsman Sleeve hitch is junk.

I purchased this item as well as a box scraper blade. the welds on the left side of the hitch broke in the first 30 minutes. The weld had no penetration into the steel. Called sears and got no help. Basically told to disassemble whole thing and return it for a replacement. I then called agrifab direclty and had a new part shipped. I decided to reweld the part that broke. Reassembled hitch and used it for about another 15 minutes when the other side broke. The is no possible way that sears is expecting this part to last. Very disappointed in the quality. If you decide to buy, better have access to a welder because you will need it.
