THIS TRACTOR HAS MANY PROBLEMS. 1. THE EASY TOOLESS BLADE CHANGE IS A JOKE. THE OLD STYLE BLADES CAN BE CHANGED SIMPLY WITH A 9/16 WRENCH BY REMOVING ONE BOLT PER BLADE WHILE SITTING FLAT ON THE GROUND. THE SO CALLED EASY BLADE CHANGE REQUIRES THE MOWER BE JACKED UP TO GAIN ACCESS, THE PLASTIC COVERS ON THE BLADE BREAK AND FALL OFF AFTER SHORT USE. BLADE CHANGE IS ANYTHING BUT EASY. 2. THE MULCH KIT LISTED FOR THIS 54 INCH MOWER ONLY COMES WITH THE OLD STYLE BLADES WHICH WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS MOWER DECK. NO ONE FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE, PARTS DIRECT, REPAIR TECHS, CAN FIND THE RIGHT MULCH KIT FOR THIS MOWER WHICH IS MADE BY HUSKVARNER, WHICH MAKES A COMPARABLE HUSKVARNER BRAND TRACTOR/MOWER FOR ABOUT $1,000.00 LESS THAN THE CRAFTSMAN. 3. THE STEERING DOES NOT LIMIT THE ANGLE OF THE FRONT WHEEL WHICH ALLOWS IT TO TURN 90 DEGREES PREVENTING THE TRACTOR TO TURN. 4. I EMPHATICALY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TRACTOR/MOWER. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EXTREMELY POOR!!

I purchased the pro series tractor because I have 2 acres of lawn with steep hills with a lot of trees. So I needed a machine with lots of power that turns tight and this machine does it all. At first it was an adjustment to steer it cause the way it can have such tight turns is that they made the front tires toe in. This is still tricky if your turning on cement cause it doesn't want to turn very well but on grass it works great. And it does set higher then most so it's hard to side hill and mow but does a great job if you can go straight up and down.
Kohler motor had plenty of power but somewhat noisy. Great hydro gear G730 fast transaxle, very smooth and noticalby faster than standard transaxle. There was 4" of toe-in, very extreme when I" to 1.5" of toe is normal. Would tear up lawn on every turn even going slow. the drag links are non adjustable. Not good Husaqvarna! There is a fix which is to have a tech install adjustable drag links which Husqvarna is aware of this problem. You may see this same problem on the Craftsmam twin to this mower the red gs5500 tractor. The reinforced mower deck was another problem with the metal strip hanging down below the lip of deck and held in place with carraige bolts that hang down even lower. With 54" of width it scalps the lawn in un-even areas even wht the scalp wheels properly adjusted. With the scalping deck and lawn ripping toe-in my lawn was begining to look pretty rough. Thank you Sears for your 30 day return policy.

I am 60 years old this is by far the toughest and strongest rider that I have ever owned. It has done everything that I have asked it to do, cutting rough terrain, hauling yard debris, scraping my short road.....Awsome machine!
Blows white blue smoke when first cranking after sitting a couple of days. Back right rear wheel wobbles when rolling. Only used a half hour to mow a postage stamp sized yard. Was just trying it out before taking to the property I was planning on using this mower at. Will be taking this mower back to sears for a full refund.
This new Craftsman Pro Series GT 54 Hydrostatic Kohler Elite garden tractor is the finest mower I ever ought. I out preforms any mower I have ever owned or used. I have told many friends about it and said if they were in the market for a new mower this one would be a good choice.
I purchased the tractor 3 years ago in 2011. Since then The right front tire fell off and had to have the barring's replaced. The Head lights blew a fuse, it stopped running and had to have a fan replaced, then it had to have the transaxle replaced. It is now broke down yet again in my garage. I was mowing and as the motor kept running and the mower blades kept turning the tractor just stopped moving. I have no idea what is wrong. The thing is only 3 years old. I paid $3000 for the tractor and then spent another thousand for accessories Plus I had already purchased a pull behind rototiller. The warranty ran out last year. The only thing they are offering to do is schedule maintenance to come to my home for $100. Craftsman use to stand for quality. The tools and equipment stood the test of time and craftsman backed their products. Not anymore. The first issue I had with this tractor was within the second year of ownership. I have a ******** special sitting in the garage that only cost me $700 ten years ago and still runs to this date, If this were a quality tractor I would not have had so many problems in such a short time. And Yes I kept up on the maintenance. Do not purchase this tractor unless you like to repair things. I will never buy Craftsman again that is for sure.
The yellow, plastic, oil drain valve on the 54" Sears Garden Tractor is someone's idea of "the next best thing". Unfortunately, the combo spout-and-valve DOES NOT WORK, and it is mounted under the starter in a spot that is impossible to get at with your fingers. Why doesn't it work? Because your fingers need something with a LOT of texture to turn AND PULL THE VALVE INTO THE OPEN POSITION! If you get a GT with this "feature", have them replace it before you accept it, or be ready for a big oil spill and a dirty machine when you're done with your first oil change.
Great machine. The 54" cutting width is fantastic and makes the work of mowing easier and quicker. The 26 hp motor has plenty of power and the 6" turn radius allows you to make cuts so much easier. This machine also handles ground engaging equipment, which makes it a machine that does it all. I would recommend it to anyone who has a large, hilly area to mow or just wants a sturdier machine which can handle any type lawn.
