This assembly has changed how I feel about weedeating. It's incredibly easy to change out lines and the lines themselves actually last a pretty long time.
I absolutely recommend this attachment to anyone who does their own edging. It relieve so much of the frustration when dealing with spools of line.
This is the best, most convenient trimmer head I have ever used/owned. Changing the line is very quick and easy which saves time in the long run compared with the spool type that continually get tangled, etc. I already own one of these hassle free trimmer heads and they are not only very convenient, but they are durable as well...I'm very happy with the quality.

Prob a great product but doesn't fit my new 25cc craftsman trimmer. Not sure why since I have the plastic version of this and wanted an upgrade to use the black heavier line....?
Bought this because they don't make bump heads for my weed eater. anymore. So I figure I would give this a try. UGH! what a mistake. This thing is garbage! Craftsman should be ashamed to have their name on this piece of junk. It's that awful. It sits to low on the shaft because you can't take the old piece off to adjust it. Then you run through the thicker line quick. It's not like I'm cutting through trees or anything. I only have some taller grass at the edge of my yard where the lawnmower can't get. This product truly sucks something awful. I will take my old bump feed back any day of the week. A HUGE mistake by Craftsman for getting rid of the bump feeds. Now I have to find a store that has them so I can stock up on them that is local(not Sears) Or I have to order 10 or so of them online so I have them for the life of my weed eater. I can't even give this any stars at all. It's that bad!

I would not recommend this product for the particular trimmer that I purchased. I was unable to replace the head on the trimmer shaft, so this head stuck down below the guard. It seemed that i was catching a lot more debris on my legs and feet. I feel sure that this product would be adequate for a different trimmer but not for my Craftsman 31cc. I do like the option of using several size lines with this head, but to be expected with all commercial heads there is more waste of line. You loose 6 inches of every piece you cut. Overall, I wished it had worked out.
I've had both types.....bump head and hassle free. Yeah, you waste alot of line with the hassle free but it is soooooo easy to change line compared to monkeying around with a coil of line, cutting it to the right length, winding it around the spool, then getting the spool back together right so the head works right AND every time you hit a clump of weeds, tree root, rock, etc., the string comes out so you have 12" of string flopping around. No thanks, I'll take the hassle free anyday. I recently bought a Sears 31cc trimmer which has a bump head. I thought I would use my old extension with the hassle free head but for some reason the trimmer will not run right with this extension so I'm trying to find a hassle head replacement...maybe this one will work.....this new trimmer doesn't have a bolt type head connector but rather has a clip on the shaft. Looks kind of cheap.
