I have used the action hoe for years and even have removed sod with it would be great to have one with a 10 inch or 12 inch blade that could be used to weed gardens and to remove sod.

My wife and I just started our first garden. Using this allows us to look like full fledged farmers. Weeding is no longer a chore it is fun all because of the action hoe.

This hoe, with its flat blalde, cuts off all weeds in its sweep. Other hoes can skip weeds as they pass between the times or as the chopping motion skips over them. This hoe also works on both the forward and backward motion and the lack of lifting during use makes it faster and easier to use.

Great for weed and/or grass removal from your garden. It doesn't move too much dirt, just gets the weed from the root. Priced comparatively with other stores. Well made. Too bad it doen't include a gardener! :)

I have 2 large planters that I need to keep clear of weeds, particularly in Spring when they really pop up and I have to get out there once a week to keep on-top of them. For many years I've used a standard hoe to take care of the weeds but I've always felt there could be a more efficient and effective way to do it. I saw a gardener using one of these so-called "action hoes" and so I tracked one down at Sears and gave this hoe a go! Far more effective and fast than using a standard hoe, this tool can work both on push and pull (though I found it did more while pushing rather than pulling). I thought it would scrape the weeds off the top of the soil but the blade actually goes about 2" under the soil and does a pretty solid job of getting all the root out with one pass. It actually cultivates and lifts the soil instead of chopping it up with a standard hoe. It's also much more maneuverable and can get into hard-to-reach places with ease. So, buy with confidence. And make sure you buy a Craftsman! I shopped around at all the big-box stores and even Sears' own OSH and the Craftsman at Sears was only about $1 more. When Sears says they'll replace a broken Craftsman tool no questions asked, they mean it. I took a 7-year-old pair of hand pruners back after the clasp broke on it and the guy just took it and said, "Go select the same or a similar one if we don't make it anymore" and I was out of there in 60 seconds -- no paperwork, no scrutinizing the tool, nothing. I always buy Craftsman for that reason!
