Craftsman  Heavy Duty Air Line Regulator with Gauge

dont even think about wasting your time with this i bought it took it home installed it with airflow going the right way and it didnt regulate any pressure at all returned the same day

I do not typically write reviews but I have to on this item. I had a Campbell Hausfield regulator which has lasted for roughly 8 years and recently started leaking very badly. I couldn't find that model any longer so I bough this for my 60 gallon IR compressor. I installed it and could not get the regulator to work. I could set the pressure but as soon as it called for air the pressure would drop by about half. I could not adjust the regulator to any point where this would not be the case. I returned the part and ordered an IR regulator online.

I bought this with the intention of using it as a primary regulator on my 80 gallon compressor tank. The regulator does not regulate, it leaks and the downstream side elevates to tank pressure. It is extremely restrictive and is not allowing the cfm that a 1/2 regulator should. I can't run an air drill downstream of this regulator. It is a non-relieving regulator. I bought this at Sears because I didn't want to get the ************** quality. Do not buy this regulator. Next, I am going to get Ingersoll Rand or Milton.

The original regulator on my Craftsman air compressor had a plastic piece break rendering the regulator unusable. I sought after a replacement part from Sears and purchased this unit.

After 6 months of little  use I noticed after a while that it would not regulate low pressures. If set too low it would release the tank pressure causing the air compressor to run constantly. I then set it to regulate high pressures and added a valve in line with my pneumatic tools. After trying to see if I could get it working again it stopped functioning altogether.

I attempted to have Sears warranty this product but have not received a replacement/refund for my original purchase within the one-year warranty period that is stated within this product manual.

I bought this regulator nearly a year ago and, with the exception of maybe the first two months, it has been nothing but junk. I had an uneasy feeling when I bought it and it said "Made in China" on the packaging, but I thought I'd give it a chance since it was Craftsman and I used to work in Tools at Sears. What a mistake that was. After removing the regulator from the packaging, the plastic parts seemed somewhat thin and brittle, not like the regulator that's on my Ingersoll Rand compressor. I hooked it up and, like I said earlier, it worked for about the first two months. The trouble started earlier this year when I tried to adjust the pressure and nothing would happen. I thought, "Okay, maybe the valve is sticking because it's cold. I'm sure in the spring/summer it'll be better." Nope, still doesn't work to this day. The gauge seems to work perfectly but I can't regulate the pressure at all. I took it apart recently to try and solve the problem so I wouldn't have to take my system apart to return it to Sears. It seemed like the plastic piston that controls the regulator valve (Sears part ref: 420-325-20, if you're interested) had some leftover plastic from the molding process on it (poor quality control) and that was causing it not to move freely in the adjusting knob seat. so I sanded that off and cleaned up the piece. After adding a little more grease and reassembling everything I still had the same problem. I checked the regulator inlet valve while I had it open and that worked smoothly so I doubt that could be causing the problem. Anyway, I'm sick of messing with it and it's going back soon. I hope they don't try to get me to take another one because I'd rather take store credit or a refund. I bought the Craftsman air filter at the same time I bought the regulator and that seems to work well (knock on wood). I didn't buy the combo filter with regulator after reading the many negative reviews on the product, and I'm glad I didn't because I'd be even more ticked off at Sears/Craftsman than I am now. Perhaps the lesson of the day should be that one should only buy Craftsman if it is Made in the USA (or Canada or Europe) and you feel comfortable with the product when you get it out of the box and in your hands. Either that or "You get what you pay for" would also work. I think I only paid $30 for this. Whatever. I'm done venting for now.

I like this regulator quite well. Much easier to read. It was much larger than the one I had. Because of the greater height I was not able to screw it into the tank. I used a quick disconnect to extend the regulator to attach it properly. Thanks! Robert E.

This made in China regulator is a piece of crap. If you want it buy it at Harbor Frieght and Tool . It's a lot cheaper. The first one I got leaked so bad that every three minutes the compressor would start. The second regulator could not be adjusted. It went up to 140 psi and that's where it stayed. Before long it blew the top and bottom out.

This POS doesnt even deserve one star. first time pressurizing the top blew off of it at 60 psi. MADE IN CHINA. first sign of trouble... china and heavy duty used in the same sentence is a bigger joke then anything.

I installed the regulator and it works, what more can I say?
